° Includes opportunities for music educators to visit with music education businesses and music colleges/universities from across the country at an exhibit show that supersedes shows found at national conferences
° The Aspiring Music Majors Program extends conference attendance to high school students planning to major in music

° Attracting and retaining forward thinking music educators to the profession
° The provision of quality professional development opportunities for music educators
° Promote pre- and post-school age learning in music
• The plan undergoes regular reviews and revisions to assure relevancy to the needs of today’s music educators and music education classrooms

New Opportunities: Similar to WSMA, the current WMEA Strategic Plan also summarizes the opportunities that lie ahead for WMEA. Now more than ever, public education needs the efforts of all of us to advocate for a well-rounded edu- cation for all students, to include access to quality music education classrooms. Recent statistics regarding shrinking en- rollments in college and university educa- tion programs, including music education, will require Wisconsin music educators to champion our profession to students and others. WMEA will need to keep a watch- ful eye on the professional development needs of today’s music educators, and music educators must take advantage of those professional development opportu- nities to stay abreast of solid pedagogical methods and strategies in music education. Creating lifelong involvement in music is essential food for the human soul that may one day bring about everlasting peace and harmony throughout all of humankind.
WFSM Successes Website Redesign
• Webpage overhauled for a modern new look, ease of navigation and responsive design platform to accom- modate a wide variety of user devices
WSMA and WMEA Program Support
• The mission of WFSM includes pro- moting and perpetuating music and music education in Wisconsin
• Thanks to donors who contributed unrestricted and restricted funds to WFSM, the Honors Project Endow- ment and the Mike Leckrone Endow- ment, over the past six years more than $140,000 has been turned over to both WSMA and WMEA to help support each of these organization’s programs and services, which helps to keep costs associated with mem- bership dues and program participa- tion fees as low as possible
Lifetime Achievement Award – Al Jarreau
• In 2016 Al was not only presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award but the Al Jarreau Endowment Fund was established in an effort to provide financial assistance to low socioeconomic students to participate in WSMA programs
• Mr. Jarreau so believed in the mission of WFSM and the Al Jarreau Endowment Fund, that after his unfortunate and untimely death in 2017 his family asked that any gifts in Al’s memory be gifted to WFSM
New WFSM Strategic Plan
• Improve and maintain a strong leadership governance structure
• Maintain positive relationships with current WFSM philanthropists and develop plans to acquire new WFSM philanthropists
• Develop a comprehensive WFSM marketing plan
