Safety, Hazard Containment & Sterilising Equipment
New Class II Biological Safety Cabinet
Scientists and researchers working in academia, cell culture/gene therapy, QA/QC, molecular biology, clinical diagnostics and clinical/ IVF can now benefit from the new Thermo Scientific 1500 Series Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC). Combining safety, energy efficiency and user convenience for today’s modern laboratory, the cabinet offers a high level of personal and product protection from biological hazards and contamination, ease of use with an intuitive touchscreen display and eco-friendly LED lighting for a brighter work environment.
The 1500 Series BSC is the latest addition to Thermo Fisher Scientific’s innovative Class II BSC portfolio. It leverages Thermo Scientific SmartFlow Plus and DAVe Plus advanced airflow technologies to support automated airflow compensation and provides alerts for any out-of-spec conditions for added assurance.
Designed to meet the demands of most laboratories and deliver value, the 1500 Series BSC is available in two sizes (4ft and 6ft) incorporating NSF safety certification and offers optional features such as a stand with castors and a cover for the back of the cabinet to support increased mobility and easier cleaning.
Featuring efficient and programmable UV cleaning cycles, night set-back mode, tactile window mechanism, Thermo Scientific SmartPort convenience and enhanced cleanability, the 1500 Series BSC provides a controlled environment for safe sample handling, protecting both users and their valuable research at all times.

Discover the Future Safety Solution for HPLC Waste
Discover the liquid safety solution of the future, and turn your waste container into a closed safety system! The modular Safety Waste Cap ‘LISA’ blocks chemical vapours with its 3-layered exhaust air filter. It connects safely to your HPLC waste lines, and provides safe disposal of chemicals like solvents, acids and alkalis. It comes with multiple connectors for many tubing sizes, and is available for different containers and thread types.
The Safety Waste Cap is made of chemically resistant materials (PTFE and PE-HD) for use with all common chemicals used in analytical labs. The modular system is extendable with accessory ‘Satellites’ for additional connections and applications.
In order to block hazardous vapours and avoid overpressure inside the container, the Safety Waste Cap LISA works perfectly with the original 3-layered SCAT exhaust air filters. The filters contain 3 types of activated carbon, optimised for catching vapours of solvents, acids and alkalis.
The screw cap is freely rotatable and prevents your HPLC tubing from twisting when changing the container. Due to the variety of included connectors for different tubing sizes, LISA fits every HPLC / UHPLC system. To keep the system safely closed, it comes with blind plugs for every connection port.
For use in explosion-protected zones, electrically conductive versions are available. They provide a grounding connection for antistatic protection, and are designed for use with electroconductive containers.

New Antimicrobial Bacteriological Barrier for Higher BSC Protection
The complete range of Telstar’s biological safety cabinets - Bio II Advance Plus and BiOptima - incorporates ZEROCOAT, a new antimicrobial bacteriological barrier, as a standard treatment applied in the work area. ZEROCOAT is a new photocatalytic treatment based on titanium dioxide which has been implemented by Telstar inside biological safety cabinets designed to operate with risk 1, 2 and 3 biological agents (viruses and bacteria or infectious material).
ZEROCOAT is the new treatment that provides a self-cleaning surface which breaks down organic matter when the light system is triggered. This activation, which can be either with white or ultraviolet light, makes organic matter oxidise naturally, safely and instantly at the molecular level. This provides it with particularly significant attributes in terms of bacterial protection, cleanliness and maintenance, durability and costs.
Existing antimicrobial coating systems for laboratory cabinets are composed of high levels of silver particles, which are applied exclusively to painted surfaces on the outside of the equipment. In contrast, the innovative ZEROCOAT treatment is incorporated on the inside of the cabin to fully protect the work surface and, among other variables, endows the stainless steel that surrounds the chamber`s interior with a high potential antimicrobial power.
The photocatalyst power of ZEROCOAT has been validated through an exhaustive battery of tests carried out in Telstar’s R&D department. The new treatment has been applied on different surfaces exposed to different types of light and wavelengths and the different organic compounds were subsequently checked for degradation. The results were then compared to tests carried out on untreated surfaces. In addition, the resistance of the new treatment to standard cleaning procedures in a cabinet and stability over a period of time has also been validated.
