9 Celebrating 75 Years with Metrohm
In 2018, the Swiss Metrohm AG and the global Metrohm Group celebrated their 75th jubilee. Special events all over the world allowed customers and employees a chance to participate in the celebrations, and everyone was invited to follow a dedicated blog taking them on a special jubilee tour to 38 countries on 6 continents.
Metrohm was founded on 1 April 1943 by the young engineer, Bertold Suhner, in Herisau, Switzerland. Since then, it has become a successful global group with local subsidiaries and exclusive representations in more than 80 countries. To honour the company’s founder and celebrate the company’s success, customers, employees, and friends were invited to participate in a host of activities all around the world.
Young scientists were invited to participate in the global competition for the Metrohm Young Chemist Award. The jubilee year culminated in December 2018, when the award was handed over to the world’s brightest young chemists in a ceremony at the company’s international headquarters in Switzerland.

At the ceremony, the three winners - Sophia Oukala (France), Antonella Giarra (Italy), and Bibekananda De (India) - presented their award winning research before going on a guided tour all over Switzerland. On the program were destinations such as the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), the Gotthard Base Tunnel, Mt. Saentis.

Biopharma Group Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary

Socorex Celebrates 55 years of Precision Volumetry
Socorex Isba SA, often referred to as just Socorex, was originally manufacturing glass and metal syringes for medical applications. Over the years, single use plastic syringes became all the more popular and Socorex stopped producing for the medical market by end of the Nineties.
Mastering precision volumetry, the company concentrated its developments in two distinct laboratory and animal health divisions, refl ecting a long time strategic reconversion.
