Gas Detection 37 what came first…the docking station or the instrument!
Docking stations eliminate the manual data download and, upon an instrument being docked, place the data within a data management system. This system organises and makes instrument data available immediately via an “in-the-cloud” dashboard, such as iNet® Control from Industrial Scientific. The dashboard presents the data in an easily understood format that provides visibility into your gas detection program at a glance. The system alerts you when problems occur and allows you to quickly access the data to identify the root cause of the issue.
Keep in mind that in order for your gas detection program and processes to improve, you must use the data available to you. A good gas detector data management system should provide full insight into the condition and proper use of your equipment and
all gas hazards to which your team is exposed. This data can be used to discuss behaviour and coach others on needed change that ultimately will lead to a safer workplace.
In conclusion, accessories are a required piece of any good product portfolio. From the fashion industry to the gas detection industry, accessories improve the convenience and effectiveness of core products. Within the gas detection industry, accessories such as docking stations, calibration gas, chargers/batteries and more, make gas detectors complete safety solutions that aid in keeping workers safer and ending death on the job.

Portable Gas Detector - It’s What’s Inside that Counts
MSA (Germany) is proud to present the Altair 5X multi-gas detector with MSA XCell Sensor Technology.
The Altair 5X can measure up to six gases
simultaneously and can be fitted with a wide range of both toxic and infra-red sensors, providing the flexibility required to meet most applications.
At the heart of the Altair 5X are MSA’s XCell sensors, now with an extended range covering
SO2, Cl2, and NH3. Superior stability and accuracy characterise the new MSA XCell sensors. They are remarkably long-lasting and the standard sensors are designed for an average life of more than four years (more than
three years for SO2, Cl2, and NH3). These new sensors allow for faster response/clear times, bump tests in less than 10 seconds, and span calibration time of 60 seconds for common configurations, thanks to micro-electronics inside the sensor. XCell Sensors provide greater signal stability and repeatability under changing or extreme environmental conditions and are plug-and-play-capable. An end-of-sensor-life indicator gives advanced warning to user, eliminating service outages.
A rugged housing provides unsurpassed durability and with large, glove-friendly buttons and an optional high-contrast colour display, the Altair 5X is easy to operate in any work environment, even in low-light conditions. This is further with the option of a glow in the dark housing for all IR sensor equipped instruments. Unique features like MotionAlert and InstantAlert are standard on the Altair 5X providing added user confidence when faced with applications like confined space entry.
The Altair 5X is fully compatible with MSA’s Galaxy Automated Test System and MSA Link™ Software.

SPECIAL APPLICATION
DUCT MOUNTING TYPE GAS DETECTION SYSTEM This Special Application is an industrial system that enables gas detection devices to detect gases in duct or pipes. It’s extremely rugged construction makes it particularly suitable for chemical and petrochemical application on & off shore. The application to the duct or pipe is made through a suitable flange with its counterflange to be soldered to the duct. As an option the system can be equipped with shut off ball valves to enable the easy application of sample gas to the sensor for calibration purposes.
SPECIAL PRODUCT
SY - HT HIGH TEMPERATURE SY - HT is an ATEX certified flameproof flammable gas sensor with catalytic combus- tion technology specially designed for applications in extreme environments. Suitable for operating in an ambient temperature range from -50°C to +300°C. Its extremely robust construction with an AISI 316L stainless steel enclosure and ma- terials which were originally used in space applications make it particularly suited to detecting flammable gas in turbo gas generators. The sensor is connected to its SY 1 - L control unit which powers it and provides measurements on a digital display and a 4-20 mA analogue output.
