8 Water/Wastewater Intelligent Level Sensor with Integrated Transmitter
The new i-Series sensors by NIVUS (Germany) stand out for their robust design and very easy operation. An important benefit of the new sensors is the quick and easy set-up. Thanks to the sensor-integrated transmitter and pre-set measurement range steps it is possible to directly connect the sensors to PLCs, data loggers and other systems without the need for additional programming expenses. Moreover the sensors are suitable for use in extreme environments. A special encapsulation allows to maintain a protection rating of IP 68. The sensors additionally fulfil the requirements for use in Ex areas Zone 1 and 0.
Another advantage is the very high accuracy of the measurement results. The unique DATEM echo signal processing (Digital Adaptive Tracking of Echo Movement) dynamically follows the useful echo, continuously masking out static as well as moving false echoes. Grease rims building up, fixed constructions with irregular adhesions or manhole steps are detected automatically and will be masked out. Moreover the sensors provide high operational reliability.
The innovative energy concept featuring lowest possible start times and measurement intervals allows unrivalled lifetimes for independent and battery-powered data loggers. The sensors can be used in any place where levels, distances, and volumes of liquids and bulk solids need to be measured.
Typical applications: Measurements in the water and wastewater area as well as in industry; Stormwater treatment facilities; Pump stations; Level measurement in rivers and channels; Flow measurement on weirs and Venturi channels; Volume measurement in tanks.

For More Info, email: New Water Quality Handhelds with Smartphone Interface
Waterra-In-Situ Inc. (UK) recently announced two new water quality handheld probes for the environmental market. Both probes interface with the industry's first water quality smartphone application. Environmental professionals can use the new smarTROLL Handheld Instruments to spot check natural surface waters and effluent waters and to conduct groundwater quality sampling.
The unique iSitu App, designed to run on iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, makes it easy for users to email data instantly to their contacts, tag sites with photos and GPS coordinates, quickly calibrate sensors, and log data to their smartphones. By using readily available smartphone technology, instead of proprietary meters, environmental professionals reduce their overall cost of ownership.
In-Situ Inc.'s water quality sensors are extremely durable, hold calibrations for long periods of time, and require minimal maintenance. For example, In- Situ Inc.'s optical dissolved oxygen sensor (RDO Sensor) stands up to daily use, requires infrequent calibration, and uses EPA-approved methods. NPDES permit holders can use both probes for reporting purposes.

The new SD 320 Con from Tintometer (Germany) is a rugged, portable hand-held device, watertight to IP67, for the measurement of conductivity, TDS, salinity and temperature. With its background illumination, the large, user-friendly display makes any measurement an easy operation. The automatic temperature compensation and data-logger are further features of the SD 320 Con. The unit can be provided with a PC interface (USB / serial or analogue) so that measurements can be evaluated and printed out quickly and easily. Further functions include: battery status display; an indicator to show when the battery needs changing; as well as Auto-Off, Auto-Hold or a min/max memory status.
Supplied with a practical protective outer shell, the SD 320 Con guarantees reliable operation in extreme conditions. A handy bracket on the back of the unit can also be used to stand the meter on a flat surface, hang it on a wall or to clip the meter to a trouser belt.
Two conductivity measurement cells using innovative 4-pole technology are available, depending on the measurement range required. The SD 320 Con can be sourced as two different sets, each in a compact plastic case.

New Interface Meter Design
Before LaserFlow, non-contact sensors only measured surface velocity. Now, this non-contact sensor penetrates the water with laser technology to measure velocity at multiple subsurface points.
Simplify your collection system monitoring with these advantages:
No confi ned space entry with mounting hardware in place
Multipoint subsurface velocity measurement ensures quality reading without manual profi ling
Advanced submerged fl ow option measures in-pipe velocity (not single-point velocity) during surcharged conditions
T is meter does all the work so you don’t have to.
Redesigned Solinst Interface Meters accurately measure product level and thickness in water (LNAPL/DNAPL); certified intrinsically safe for use in explosive environments. The Model 122 from Solinst (Canada) uses PVDF flat tape precisely laser-marked every millimeter or 1/100 ft. to 300 m (1000 ft.); extremely durable, easy to decontaminate. New 122M Mini Interface Meters feature PVDF cable in 25 m or 80 ft. lengths.
