Air Monitoring Mobile FTIR Rental from the Experts
Protea (UK) now offers transportable MCERTS Approved FTIR Systems for hire. The ProtIR 204M FTIR System holds MCERTS Certification for used both as a mobile compliance monitoring system under methods such as M22 and as a back-up CEM System for continuous monitoring installations under the Waste Incineration Directive.
The ProtIR 204M is designed to be used in a wide range of industrial applications and is especially suited to be deployed in waste incineration and power stations, where Protea’s advanced software enables users to quickly and simply set the instrument up to measure all the gases required in this type of emission.
Protea’s Standard software is typically configured to measure HCl, SO2, NO, NO2, N2O, NH3, CO, CO2 CH4 and H2O, but a large number of other components such as organics and hydrocarbons can be added using the standard software. The in-built O2 sensor measures oxygen and enables customers to correct any data to reference conditions, making it the perfect tool to be used in this type of application.
Protea’s Standard Software has been developed from over 10 years of field use and is extremely reliable and robust to deploy. This makes the 204M a perfect tool to be used when accurate and repeatable results are required. Protea can offer suitable training on the use of FTIR systems under both M22 and WID, as well as for non-regulatory and investigative monitoring.

The Air Quality and Emissions Show Almost Sold Out With a Year to Go!
With nearly a year to go before the doors open at ‘Air Quality and Emissions 2013’ the organisers are delighted to announce that 75% of the exhibition stands have already been sold as companies jostle for the best positions. Participants in the Conferences, Exhibition and Workshops already include many of the sector’s leading names including organisations such as the Environment Agency, UKAS, NPL and the STA, and leading companies including Horiba, Siemens, Sick and Quantitech.
AQE 2013 will take place at the Telford International Centre on 13th and 14th March and will be the seventh in a series of specialist air monitoring events, previously known as MCERTS; the new name is a reflection of the fact that the format has been considerably expanded.
European leaders are aiming to make 2013 the “Year of Air” to highlight the problems of pollution and air quality, so AQE 2013 presents an ideal opportunity for everyone with an interest in air quality to come together, exchange ideas and learn about the latest technologies, standards and regulations relating to air quality and emissions monitoring.
The AQE2013 exhibition will provide visitors with a great opportunity to inspect the latest testing and monitoring equipment and a large new demonstration area has been created to facilitate this.

US Army Contract for Air Analysis Specialists
Environnement SA (France) recently delivered a turnkey analysis system contract to the US Army. Due to the requirements of the clients’ particular application, a bespoke cabinet, which housed all of the analysers, the sampling, all the pumps and filtration system was designed and built by the Environnement SA team. The cabinet includes
FID/CLD and NDIR analysers for monitoring Total Hydrocarbons, NOx, NO, NO2, CO, CO2, O2 and CO2 EGR in a heated version and measures 42 U (1.8669 m) in height. The EGAS (Exhaust Gas Analysis System) cabinet will
be dedicated primarily to the development and the certification of the US Army "Heavy Duty” engines. This exciting challenge for Environnement SA gave them a great opportunity to use their expertise, flexibility and creativity to integrate an analyser system to work within a very strict and specific criteria.

New Stack Velocity and Flow Meter
Flowtest St is a stack velocity and flow meter through the Pitot tube fromTCR Tecora (Italy), which allows the operator to calculate the sampling point and to define the sampling time for each point. The instrument will execute the measurement and will record velocity, temperature and pressure point-by-point.
Extremely accurate, Flowtest St stands out for the innovative software, that, through the continuously check of the sampling flow, helps the isokinetic
calculation. The software allows the user to change duration time point-by-point, repeat a measurement point or recover an
incomplete profile already stored in an easy and simple manner. The instrument is supplied with a USB key to download sampling data.
Another important feature of Flowtest St is the universality of the thermocouples: in fact, it is possible to choose J, K or T type. This means that the laboratories that already have a probe won’t buy another one and will use their own.
Regarding battery, the customer can choose if use rechargeable batteries (with battery charger) or alkaline batteries AA type.
Flowtest St has high stability: its recalibration his necessary only once a year. The plus of the instrument is the high accuracy (better than 1%). This is very important for laboratories accredited with ISO 17025, who can execute measurements according to EN 13284, which requires high accuracy sensors to perform the measurement.
