Environmental Analysis 45 New Precision Level Transducer Delivers Extreme Accuracy


Measurement Specialties (USA), a global designer and manufacturer of sensor and sensor-based systems for measuring pressure/force, position, vibration, temperature, humidity and fluid properties, now offers the TruBlue 575 Baro transducer that measures and logs barometric pressure as well as temperature with extreme accuracy.


The new absolute, non-submersible 575 Baro has an internal memory of 8 MB and can store up to 550,000 data points. Its internal 3.6 V lithium battery, with on-board surge protection, has a lifespan of five years, making this new transducer ideal for groundwater and surface water data collection and monitoring applications in low-maintenance systems and remote locations.


The TruBlue 575 Baro provides an accuracy of ±0.1% FS total error band, which includes changes in temperature within the compensated temperature range of 0°C to 50°C. The transducer has an RS-485 electrical interface.


The new transducer comes standard with TruWare, Measurement Specialties’ user-friendly software created specifically for the TruBlue line. Users can view, graph and export test data using this software. TruWare is available for PC applications.


Sampling modes for the TruBlue 575 Baro include linear, linear average and event, with programmable sampling rates of up to five readings per second.


The transducer is just 3/4” in diameter and comes in welded stainless steel or titanium. It has an operating temperature range of 0°C to 50°C and a pressure range from 8 to 16 psia. The 575 Baro has a two-year warranty and comes standard with a calibration report.

Aalborg's new TIO Totaliser converts analog Mass Flow Meters and Controllers into precision digital units via RS 232 or RS 485 interfaces (multi-drop capacity up to 64 devices).


This new product can be used as a monitor for Aalborg's GFM and AFM Flow Meters or as a controller with GFCs and AFCs. It can also be used with any third party devices with 0 5VDC/4 20mA inputs and outputs. No host PC presence is required for local or programmable Set-point control.


The TIO's compact size is designed for wall, panel, field, or unit mount applications. It is easily mounted to a GFM or GFC by simply unscrewing the unit’s D-connector and attaching the TIO. A bracket and screws are provided in the Mounting Kit.


Aalborg configures the TIO input and output signals to your specific application. Changes can be easily made via a user-friendly menu. All process configuration


parameters’ settings are password protected to prevent accidental or unauthorised changes.


This model is equipped with two programmable optically-isolated digital outputs and a user-programmable optically-isolated pulse output with preset active low time interval.

New Generation of Portable Soil Moisture Measurement System


Campbell Scientific (UK) are pleased to announce the Hydrosense II portable soil moisture measurement system.


The new hand-held display unit features a 3” LCD display and four simple-to-use navigation buttons. An integrated GPS geotags each reading and measurements can be grouped together allowing average soil moisture to be calculated for a defined area. On-board data storage for up to 1500 measurements has been added, with Bluetooth connectivity for downloading to a PC.


The new soil moisture probe uses the same accurate measurement technique as the previous model, but features a redesigned housing to aid insertion into and removal from hard soils.


New PC software has been developed to make the most of the data storage capability of the Hydrosense II.

Spark-Free Cabinets with Explosion-Proof Interior


The latest guidelines for laboratories, BGR 120, state that interiors, in which dangerous, explosive atmospheres can develop, must be explosion-proof. These explosive atmospheres can, for example, be generated by flammable liquids which have been discarded.


Lovibond® spark-free cabinets from Tintometer (Germany) meet these requirements in full. Their interiors contain no sources of sparks and are therefore explosion-proof.


The cabinet temperature can be set continuously from +2 °C to +10 °C and is constantly controlled by a room thermostat. Defrosting is automatic and


is electronically regulated. The structure is made up of steel panel housing with an impact-proof, bump-resistant powder paint coating. The interior is made of high-strength, durable plastic.
