Automated reader for QUANTOFIX® test strips QUANTOFIX® Relax

The QUANTOFIX® Relax is a revolutionary step in test strip analysis. With this new system, MACHEREY-NAGEL offers an entirely objective way to read QUANTOFIX® test strips, making the system particularly suitable if results are critical to your decision making. The system simplifies testing procedures and the decision processes by eliminating the subjectivity of visual readings and by providing higher accuracy. Especially if you test large numbers of strips, the QUANTOFIX® Relax helps and supports you with easy data administration and quick testing procedures. Additionally, the QUANTOFIX® Relax allows you to get actual quantitative results – no gradation and estimation of in-between values is necessary. The QUANTOFIX® Relax can change the way you work and test. The system enables you to focus on your core processes and is the perfect tool for your testing procedures.

Aeration Compressors with Excellent Efficiency

With the new AP series, Gardner Denver Thomas (Germany) is once again introducing a series of new linear diaphragm compressors. In contrast to motor drives, linear drives have an armature with a permanent magnet that is moved back and forth between two electromagnets (solenoid) in time with the mains frequency. The armature itself is mounted between the two opposing diaphragms of the pump heads. This technology reduces the wear parts to a minimum which guarantees a very long service life. In practical application, 20,000 operating hours or more are achieved.

The use of Neodym magnetic material made it possible to greatly increase the field strength and thus the efficiency of the linear drive. At the same time, the size was greatly decreased by increasing the power density. The data of the new AP series AP-40, AP-60, and AP-80 speaks for itself. For example, the power consumption is only between 0.63 and 0.53 Watts per l/min with a counter- pressure of 150 mbar. The volume flows here are between 46 and 86 l/min. The maximum pressure is now 300 mbar.

All screws for opening the compressor are now accessible from the top and greatly simplify the replacement of the pump block after approx. 20,000 operating hours. A diaphragm safety switch, which is triggered when the deflection of the armature is too great (caused by transport or in case of a tear in the diaphragm), is also accessible from the top by means of the cover of the filter and thus be reset.

Due to the smaller dimensions and the low weight of only 4.7 kg, installation in switchboxes, for example, is simplified.

Linear compressors by Thomas are used in various applications. Manufacturers of small wastewater treatment systems primarily use the technology for the aeration of wastewater and sludge. Due to their excellent efficiency, the compressors are also used for primary air supply in fuel cells.

Take a look at our website www.envirotech-online.com Non-contact Discharge Measurement with Radar

RQ-24 sensor from company Sommer (Austria) enables a continual non-contact and failsafe measurement of discharge for rivers, creeks, mountain torrents, open channels or storm overflow with radar technology.

The unique feature of the RQ-24 system is the continuous and contact-free capturing of flow velocity which enables accurate discharge measurement and evaluation of specific discharge situations.

In case of flood the system measures the exact discharge and because of the non-contact radar technology there is no damage of the measurement system by bed loads or trees.

The RQ-24 system measures from very low water depth, like rivers in arid clime, up to the maximum possible discharge of a 100-year flood or even greater including floodplains.

Easy set up of measurement system at low installation cost. The RQ-24 system can be integrated into any measurement system or control system by analogue or digital interface.

Robust Test Rod for Electro-acoustic Water Leak Detection Outdoors

The AquaTest T10 from Sewerin (Germany) is an electro acoustic listening stick / test rod with innovative technology and ergonomic design for the location of leaks in water dirtibution networks.

The AquaTest T10 is designed for single handed use with the reciver and microphone combined in one unit. The headphones are activated not by the usual push button but by a new sensor area, simply place your finger in this area and the T10’s headphones are activated take your finger away they are deactivated. The noises that are picked up are visualised on a display incorporated in the handle.

The SDR radio module means the test rod can be used with radio headphones with the result that there are no cables to get in your way. Reader Reply Card No. 77 IET March / April 2012 www.envirotech-online.com Reader Reply Card No. 76 75
