30 Water/Wastewater BOD Measurement with Direct Sample Selection and Interface
The Lovibond (Germany) BOD-OxiDirect sensor system for provides exact and convenient measurement of Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) based on the respirometric principle. All results are shown in a big display directly in mg/l BOD without the need for time-consuming conversion using factors. In addition, the measuring period can be user-selected between 1 and 28 days.
The unit measures BOD levels via the pressure drop in the closed system during a defined period of time. Following measurement, the results are stored and can be called up to the display at any time. The inductive stirrer system not only mixes the sample but also ensures optimum gas exchange between sample and/ gas space in the sample flask.
Alongside the BOD unit to determine BOD levels, a BOD system contains sample flasks, a non-wearing inductive stirrer system, overflow measuring flask to measure the sample volume, nitrification inhibitor and potassium hydroxide as an absorbent.

Chromatotec (France) is pleased to announce a new analyser system for the surveillance of VOCs in water, which is named airmoPURGE.
The sample preparation technique is based on US EPA method 502.2 for purging the VOCs from water using an inert gas, followed by their analysis using our certified airmoVOC C6-C12 analyser.
There are many applications for this technique including the analysis of raw source water, seawater, rain water and also for the analysis of finished drinking water. Headspace analysis is available for analysis of wastewater.
It should be noted that the analysis system used in this application can also optionally measure VOCs in ambient air i.e. the concentrations of VOCs in both air and water can be measured using this one single system!

New Silica Analyser Launched
Swan Analytical (Switzerland) are pleased to announce the release of the newly developed AMI Silica.
The Silica analyser is now fitted with the new Periclip pump and 2 Litre reagent canisters, for the ease of maintenance and uses the well proven continuous flow photometry.
The analyser is intended for Silica measurement mainly in water steam cycles, cooling- and surface water. The AMI Silica offers a meauring range of 1 to 5’000ppb
The analyser can be equipped with an optional 2nd sample stream switching valve or connected to the AMI Sample Sequencer for up to 6 sample streams.

New Version Water Level and Temperature Datalogger Introduced
Solinst Canada has introduced a new version of the Levelogger water level and temperature datalogger. The new Levelogger Junior Edge provides a cost- effective option for groundwater or surface water monitoring applications.
The Levelogger Junior Edge has improved features, including the same durable Hastelloy pressure sensor as the Levelogger Edge, which has superior corrosion resistance, and can withstand 2 times over-pressure without permanent damage.
The Levelogger Junior Edge has an increased memory capacity of 40,000 sets of water level and temperature data points, a 5-year battery, and accuracy is 0.1% FS. Sampling is linear at a user-defined interval from 0.5 seconds to 99 hours.
If greater accuracy, sampling options, or ranges are required, the Levelogger Edge has the functionality to suit your application. The Levelogger Edge has 0.05% accuracy, a 10-year battery, superior corrosion resistance and memory for up to 120,000 datapoints using the linear compressed sampling option.
Operation of the Levelogger Junior Edge and Levelogger Edge is very intuitive with user-friendly Levelogger software, and trouble-free optical infrared communication makes installation easy, using Solinst 2" Locking Well Caps for stainless steel wireline/Kevlar cord or Direct Read Cable deployment. They can also communicate with SDI-12 Systems using a special interface cable, as well as Solinst Telemetry Systems.
The Levelogger Junior Edge and Levelogger Edge are absolute pressure dataloggers, therefore a Barologger Edge and Levelogger Software provides the easiest and most accurate method for barometric compensation of water level data. Using the Software's Data Compensation Wizard, you can barometrically compensate multiple Levelogger files simultaneously, with just one Barologger Edge file.
The Levelogger Junior Edge provides consultants and researchers a cost-effective option for groundwater and surface water monitoring projects.
