Gas Detection New Laser Based Compact Gas-Analyser Range

New Portable Gas Detector - It’s What’s Inside that Counts

MSA(Germany) is proud to present the Altair 5X multi-gas detector with MSA XCell Sensor Technology. The Altair 5X can measure up to six gases simultaneously and can be fitted with a wide range of both toxic and infra-red sensors, providing the flexibility required to meet most applications.

At the heart of the Altair 5X are MSA’s XCell sensors, now with an extended range covering SO2, Cl2, and NH3. Superior stability and accuracy characterise the new MSA XCell sensors. They are remarkably long-lasting and the standard sensors are designed for an average life of more than four years (more

than three years for SO2, Cl2, and NH3). These new sensors allow for faster response/clear times, bump tests in less than 10 seconds, and span calibration time of 60 seconds for common configurations,

thanks to micro-electronics inside the sensor. XCell Sensors provide greater signal stability and repeatability under changing or extreme environmental conditions and are plug-and-play-capable. An end-of-sensor-life indicator gives advanced warning to user, eliminating service outages.

A rugged housing provides unsurpassed durability and with large, glove-friendly buttons and an optional high-contrast colour display, the Altair 5X is easy to operate in any work environment, even in low-light conditions. This is further with the option of a glow in the dark housing for all IR sensor equipped instruments. Unique features like MotionAlert and InstantAlert are standard on the Altair 5X providing added user confidence when faced with applications like confined space entry.

The Altair 5X is fully compatible with MSA’s Galaxy Automated Test System and MSA Link™ Software. Reader Reply Card No. New Rugged and Reliable Four-Gas Detector

PAS CompactGas Analysers (Germany) are the economic choice for the measurement of up to two different gases in a single standardised photoacoustic cell. Starting at competitive price levels for single gas measurements PAS CompactGas Analysers can also be upgraded to dual-gas measurement capabilities, flexible data interfacing and data storage.

Is the gas mixture right? With the new gas analysis device MFA 9000 by WITT-Gasetechnik (gas technology) from Germany this question can now be answered in more detail by quality inspectors and service technicians than previously.

The analyser that can be used for a vast multitude of applications is now capable of determining the composition of 13 mixtures from respectively two gases. The MFA 9000 analyses the common technical gases of nitrogen, carbon dioxide, argon, hydrogen, helium as well as methane. Operation is practically infallible: for WITT a selector lever with three keys is covers it all. In the digital display the measuring result will be shown in percent in respect of the gas combination or as

ppm share (parts per million). "In contrast to other devices only the mixed gas to be determined is required for a measurement," informs the director of the sales department, Martin Bender. "The user thus does not need an additional reference gas."

The measurement follows the principle of thermal conductivity, a quick and precise method, with unlimited useful life of the measuring cell. As quickly as one second, is the time taken for the first result to be given. The deviance from the final value of the measuring range is only around one percent. The calibration is done by means of a standard 2-point calibration or in simplification with one gas. Due to its compact dimensions of just 240 x 231 x 230 mm (w x h x d) the new MFA 9000 can be used mobile, 230 V are needed for operation. The gas pressure may be in the range from 1.5 to 20 bar; the flow rate is 40-150 Nl/h.

Those who want to use the antirust stainless steel analyser permanently and stationary, will be served excellently: the MFA 9000 is capable of alarm functions, detects measuring errors and delivers its data via an RS232 interface on a PC by which the device can be completely controlled and even calibrated as well. Furthermore, an outlet with 4-20 mA is provided, which can be optionally expanded.
