Wearing Safety Spectacles and Masks Simultaneously Ensures Perfect Protection and Doubles Performance
The provision of eye and respiratory protection is a legal requirement, yet it is often a thankless task to persuade workers to wear them, especially together. Now with the launch of uvex’s (UK) superfit safety eyewear combined with its new Classic 2310 Cup version P3 and Classic 2210 Cup version P2 masks, this problem is easily and effectively overcome.
Research shows that the main reason workers do not wear their safety spectacles or masks even when required is because they find them uncomfortable. Uvex’s highly-wearable and mutually compatible products tick the comfort box, while wearing both specs and mask simultaneously, an action becoming
increasingly necessary in today’s safety climate, enhances the performance of each individual product function.
Designed to fit and be worn together, the mask and specs combination works as follows: The design of the superfit spectacle makes for a dovetail fit between the spectacle and mask. The nose bridge fits perfectly inside the mask, but does not affect the sealing qualities, as shown in the image, the combined ergonomic design and shape of the mask and curvature of the lens ensure that both eye and face gaps are sealed effectively so that the wearer achieves a perfect seal on the face and the thinness of the superfit lens and reduced weight of the spectacle ensures there is no pressure and movement on the mask and therefore avoids the potential of failure of the seal.

ATEX Approved Gas Detection Device for Remote Monitoring of Toxic Gases and Oxygen
Honeywell Analytics’ (UK) Sensepoint XCD RTD (Remote Toxic Detector) can help businesses reduce the ongoing cost of gas detection whilst increasing on-site safety. Sensepoint XCD RTD is able to do this by providing a common transmitter platform that supports a wide range of toxic gas hazards and Oxygen; this means that common tools and common mounting arrangements can be used on-site, helping to reduce the cost of installation and training required.
The device also helps to keep sites safe by providing enhanced, easily accessible visual cues; Searchpoint XCD RTD’s unique, fully illuminated tri-colour LCD shows the status at a glance – even from a distance. This benefits the user by making devices requiring attention easier to find on-site. Sensepoint XCD RTD is designed to offer excellent flexibility of use and is an ideal solution for hard-to-reach locations or areas where the transmitter needs to be separate from the sensor. With remote sensor mounting of up to 30 metres / 100 feet away from the transmitter, Sensepoint XCD RTD provides a robust monitoring solution even in challenging environments where detection is difficult.
Sensepoint XCD RTD helps keep sites safe with enhanced, easily accessible visual cues. The device’s unique, fully illuminated tri-colour LCD shows the transmitter’s status – normal, warning/fault or alarm – at a glance, even from a distance. A steady green backlight indicates normal operation, flashing yellow indicates warning/fault and flashing red indicates an alarm. This benefits the user by making devices requiring attention easier to find on-site. This detector simplifies set up and configuration with its LCD and non-intrusive magnetic switches, which helps reduce the ongoing cost of gas detection.
Sensepoint also minimises false alarms through an auto-inhibit of outputs when the device is being adjusted, preventing unnecessary false alarms at the control panel. This enables an engineer to make changes to the device in the field without requiring a second operator at the control panel to manually inhibit the device.

Introducing the YA11 sounder, R. STAHL (Germany) has extended its Yodalex line of signalling devices. The YA11 is designed to be mounted in panels used in Zone 2 or 22 hazardous areas. It provides an audible signal that could be used to alert operators to malfunctions, process breakdowns or draw the operator's attention to the panel. The lightweight, low-profile aluminium enclosure of the YA11 can be mounted to panels, bulkheads, and any suitable surface of an enclosure or control station. With a height of merely 28 mm, it requires little installation space. Electronics are encapsulated to provide protection; and impact or entry is prevented by the use of a tamper-proof protective cover. The YA11 sounder is pre-wired with a 3 m cable, making installation quick and cost-effective. The unit is certified to a level of IP66 / NEMA 4X and when installed, this level of protection is maintained between the sounder and the panel by means of a closed foam gasket and stainless steel fixings which are included as standard. A replacement installation kit is available if the YA11 needs to be removed and then re-attached.

The YA11 has a factory adjustable alarm generator. Users can choose from a selection of 32 international sound tones, to be specified at point of ordering. The unit is operated with a nominal supply voltage of 24 V DC (18 - 32 V DC), with a sound output of 100 dB at a 1 m distance and a nominal current consumption of only 70 mA. Suitable for a temperature range of -40 to +70 °C and featuring certifications for global use (ATEX, IECEx, UL and ULC), the YA11 is a competitive and technically attractive solution for OEMs, panel builders and specifiers worldwide.
