Reduce Spillages and Downtime Whilst Maximising Safety


Honeywell Enraf (Netherlands) recently announced it has signed an agreement with Magnetrol International Incorporated, a supplier of level and flow measurement equipment, to enhance its existing terminal market product portfolio with Magnetrol’s expertise in safety and compliance.


To ensure Honeywell customers are able to operate terminals safely and comply with increasing stringent regulation and environmental standards, the new partnership will see the incorporation of Magnetrol’s spillage prevention and tank overfill protection products into Honeywell Enraf Safety Solutions’ Alarm Scout service group. The Alarm Scout product portfolio is designed to allow users to automatically collect performance data and be alerted of system trouble-spots. The new partnership is a further step into bringing Honeywell customers an all-encompassing safety solution, with the enhanced instruments available for purchase from March 2012.


John Heiser, chief operating officer, Magnetrol commented: “Not only is it of upmost priority to ensure workers are able to


operate within a secure and safe environment, it’s also important that equipment is aimed at reducing plant down times and increasing efficiencies. ClampOn (Norway) has been named as recipient of a "Spotlight on New Technology Award" by the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) for its development of the company's Subsea Corrosion-Erosion Monitor (CEM). The award showcases technological developments and products that are leading the oil and gas industry into the future.


Corrosion and erosion represents a huge challenge to operators, and subsea operators in particular. ClampOn’s Subsea Corrosion-Erosions Monitor has been designed to operate in water depths down to 3000 metres, and the product's development has been supported by BP and Innovation Norway. The Subsea CEM measures changes in wall thickness over entire sections of pipe up to two metres in length and is an enormous technological leap forward. So far, the system has been delivered to BP and Total.


ClampOn began developing a topside version of the technology 10 years ago, and this technology has now been adapted for subsea use. The award represents an important step forward for ClampOn, which until now has been best known for its highly regarded topside and subsea sand monitors, PIG detectors and leak monitors.

The FS10A’s advanced electronics and thermal dispersion flow sensing technology provide a superior overall solution to sampling system flow assurance. It is ideally suited for continuous monitoring of analyser sample flows to provide the highest integrity process analysis without interruption.


The breakthrough FS10A Analyser Flow Switch features a precision flow sensor element with no moving parts to foul, clog or maintain, ensuring continuous reliability and requiring virtually no maintenance. Unlike capillary bypass flow meters and controllers, the FS10A has no cavities, orifices or dead-legs that can trap fluids and lead to contaminated samples, which preserves sample integrity and provides faster system sampling times. The instrument’s wetted parts are corrosion-resistant 316L stainless steel with Hastelloy-C22 sensor tips.
