40 New Compact Automatic Distillation Unit
Anton Paar has launched the new ADU 5 automatic distillation unit, a fully automated, compact stand-alone distillation unit which is operated by touchscreen interface. This makes it the ideal solution for performing high-precision atmospheric distillation tests.
The complete ready-to-go system occupies only a minimum amount of laboratory bench space and masters with ease all standard fuel distillation test measurements. In addition, it comes ready for the determination of biodiesel and ethanol-blended gasoline, and prepared for automatic dry point detection. Testing and results are in full compliance with ASTM D86 (Group 0, 1, 2, 3, 4), D1078, D850, ISO 3405, IP 123, IP 195.
ADU 5 meets the highest safety standard in its class and the requirements of the latest version of ASTM D86. It features an automatic fire-extinguishing system that can be connected to N2
or CO2 gas. An automatic shut-off and a low-level detection of the cooling liquid prevent overheating of the unit that is equipped with an
integrated cooling system. The password management system guarantees selective access areas. ADU 5 comes with a completely new user interface that can be fully adapted to user preferences. It makes the handling of this important test as easy as possible.
The excellent heat control of ADU 5 guarantees an optimum standardised distillation rate even for complicated mixtures. Thanks to the excellent temperature stability of the receiving chamber, an automatic correction of the results to standard pressure and perfect distillation rate control, ADU 5 guarantees highly accurate results to ensure outstanding repeatability and reproducibility.

15,000 psi Pressure Comparator and Test Gauge with Advanced Safety Features for Field and Laboratory Use
Now offering FREE weight cases
A new hydraulic pressure comparator with industry-leading safety features and a high- pressure version of its popular XP2i test gauge have been introduced by Ametek Crystal Engineering. Both the GaugeCalHP pressure comparator and high-pressure XP2i test gauge are rated to 15 000 psi / 1000 bar / 100 MPa.
The highly versatile GaugeCalHP is suitable for test and calibration use with water or oil, either in the field or the laboratory
Key features include a fine adjust that is easy to use at 15,000 psi and a connection fitting with quick alignment swivel capability. A pivoting manifold rotates to fit large-size gauges. To increase stability, the device’s reservoir can quickly add a small amount of pressure to bleed air out of the weep hole. A drip tray captures excess fluid.
The patent-pending Crystal Pressure Fittings (CPF) add unique O-ring sealing for leak-free connections without tools The self-venting weep hole alerts users before they disconnect from a pressurised system. CPF fittings and hoses come with an industry first 4:1 safety factor.
Crystal Engineering’s rugged, intrinsically safe XP2i pressure gauge is now available for pressures up to 15,000 psi. Key features include IP-67 rated, marine-grade enclosure (submersible up to 1 meter), a fast pressure safety valve (PSV) mode and a leak-free Crystal pressure fitting connection. Active Digital Temperature Compensation assures 0.1% of reading accuracy from -10 to 50°C.
The dual display version adds additional features, including leak rate, tare mode, and differential pressure (when connected to a second XP2i). The optional DataLoggerXP upgrade lets users record up to 32,000 data points and export the data into Excel.
Crystal Engineering produces highly accurate, field-grade testing and calibration equipment for measurement applications in oil and natural gas, power generation, wastewater, water supply, manufacturing, aerospace, and aircraft maintenance.

New Chilling Incubators Torrey Pines Scientific announces new larger EchoThermTM
vibration free bench top chilling incubators that are ideal for protein crystallography and other life science laboratory uses.
The incubators are 100 litre capacity and are Peltier-based for heating and chilling. They have no compressors or CFC’s and are vibration-free making them ideal for doing protein crystallisations.
Other applications include incubating marine samples below room temperature, enzyme reactions and deactivations, hybridisations, ligations, storing oocytes, and general lab incubations.
There are two models. The IN55 is fully programmable and the IN50 is simple digital. Chamber size for both is 100 litres. They are settable form 4.0ºC to 70.0ºC and feature PID temperature control to ± 0.1°C, digital display to 0.1ºC, and accuracy to ± 0.2ºC.
They have RS232 I/O port for remote control and data collection, digital timer in hours, minutes and seconds with user settable Auto-Off, temperature ramping on programmable models, and audible alarms.
Chamber size is 24” high by 20” deep by 14” wide and come with eight stainless steel racks with room for twelve. Racks are split, front to back, in the middle for variety of sample sizes.
The units are shipped with universal power supplies that take AC line inputs from 100VAC to 265VAC, 50/60 Hz and converts that to 12 volts DC for the unit, AC line cord for the country of use, users manual and full 12-month warranty.
The IN50 and IN55 are UL, CSA, and CE compliant.
