28 Extended Range of Physical Standards
Reagecon Ltd, a leading manufacturer of certified and accredited Calibration and Control Standards worldwide, are pleased to announce the expansion of their Physical Standards portfolio. Responding to market demands and as part of the ongoing new product development program, several new Standards have been developed and added to the following product families:
Refractive Index Standards: range increased to cover 0% to 70% for measurements using the Brix scale. Density Standards: values up to 3.1 g/ml are manufactured from formulations, free from the use of toxic organic compounds.
Colour Standards: complete ranges now offered for Primary colours according to the European and US Pharmacopoeias. Standards also produced for the Gardner, Platinum- Cobalt (Hazen), ASTM and Saybolt colour scales and conventions. Melting point standards can be provided as customer specified kits in addition to individual Standards.
Spectrophotometer standards have the linearity, wavelength, bandwidth and stray light standards provided as either sealed cuvettes or as 100ml bottles of ready to use solutions Provided for use with any instrument brand; these new product additions offer the analyst the most comprehensive range of accredited Standards available from a single manufacturer.

Temperature Control Hoses with Improved Flow Characteristics
The product portfolio of Huber Kältemaschinenbau (Germany) comprises special temperature control hoses with smooth internal wall which improve the flow characteristics and thermal transfer. Compared to traditional hoses with fluted internal wall, these hoses accelerate the heating and cooling processes. Tests with different reactor system at Unistats have shown a reduction of the heating and cooling times of up to 30%, depending on the application.
The insulated hoses can be used with operating temperatures of -60°C to +260°C. They are available in lengths of 100, 150, 200, and 300 cm. By means of connecting threads on both ends (choose from M24/30/38 x 1,5), the hoses can be coupled directly to reactor systems, autoclaves, synthesiser or distillation units.

28769pr@reply-direct.com Compact Lift Stages for High Accuracy Vertical Motion Control
Compact new MPS-SV lift stages from Aerotech Inc deliver high performance elevation motion control for both laboratory research and high reliability production processes. The series includes two sizes (as small as 210 mm long x 52.4 mm wide x 38 mm high) and a choice of DC servomotor with rotary encoder or stepper motor. All MPS-SV stages feature a precision- ground ball screw and preloaded crossed-roller bearings. This provides smooth and accurate geometric performance, high accuracy and repeatability and 0.05 µm minimum incremental motion. There is also a lead-screw drive option for more cost- sensitive applications. All drive train mechanics are designed for high reliability and extended service life. MPS-SV stages are available with vacuum preparation to 10-6 Torr that includes a vacuum-rated connector. An optional mounting plate provides direct mounting to both English and metric optical breadboards. A multitude of adapter brackets and mounting compatibility inherent in the entire MPS stage family allow easy assembly of multi-axis stage configurations. Aerotech is a leading global supplier of positioning and motion control products for industry, government, science and research institutions. Its products provide critical performance for demanding applications requiring high precision, high-throughput motion control solutions.

Order for Large-scale Implementation of the New Coater LC Series Announced
Gebr. Lödige Maschinenbau has received the first groundbreaking order for the large-scale implementation of the new Coater LC Series: in the future, a major German pharmaceutical manufacturer will be using a coating system model LC 150 with a useable volume of 750 l for the organic coating of tablets. Start-up is scheduled for April 2015. The new Coater LC Series from Lödige was specially developed for coating tablets. The top priority in the conception was optimum process management in addition to ease of operation and ease of cleaning. All three sub-processes, which are relevant for film coating, were optimised: spraying the finish, mixing the tablets and drying them. This new development distinguishes itself with a new design for spraying on the finish with a low number of jets, which enables a perfect fit with the tablet bed. The innovative technology makes it possible to easily set and automatically control the correct spraying distance and angle at any time, in order to achieve a perfect result. At the same time, the optimum arrangement and number of jets accelerates the process in comparison to comparable coaters.
The recently commissioned coating system is extraordinarily complex: the task requires respectively

complex materials preparation technology, especially after a large amount of drying gas is used. In addition, the system is equipped with a specially designed and extensive high pressure jet assembly. This ensures short processing times as well as superior coating homogeneity of the tablets. To guard against explosions, the entire process takes place in a nitrogen circulation system. Nitrogen blocks atmospheric oxygen. The oxygen concentration in the unit is monitored continually. During the process the solvent is condensed. Lödige was chosen after intensive experimentation with numerous other coating system providers. Beyond the production of the coater, the order also encompasses the complete installation and start-up of the unit. The LC coater series will also be a topic at Lödige’s Interpack stand (Hall 3/Stand 3F22). Besides this, a focus will be placed on continuous production processes in the pharmaceutical industry.
