Metrohm present the 883 Basic IC plus, their new entry-level model to intelligent ion chromatography. The 883 Basic IC plus is Metrohm’s smallest ion chromatograph and has been designed to meet the requirements of schools and universities as well as routine applications in particular.

The 883 Basic IC plus features all the intelligent functions of Metrohm’s high end ion chromatographs. The iColumn technology facilitates the handling of columns and protects them against operational damage. Also included are the intelligent high-pressure pump iPump and the iDetector, Metrohm’s intelligent conductivity detector. Both components guarantee precise results and virtually eliminate operator errors. Moreover, the 883 Basic IC plus is equipped with Metrohm’s «MSM II» Suppressor Module for chemical suppression.

Operation of the 883 can be completely automated. For this, Metrohm offers the 883 Basic IC plus Package, which contains the 863 Compact IC Autosampler as well as the 883 Basic IC plus. This package is tailor-made for routine work and contains everything need for the automation of routine analyses. The 883 Basic IC plus is controlled by the MagIC Net™ Basic software, making operation of the system perfectly easy.

Circle no. 328 CRM Offers Safety Benefits

Starna Scientific is offering pharmaceutical quality assurance laboratories a safe-to-handle toluene/methanol Certified Reference Material (CRM) for validating instrument resolution with derivative spectrophotometry analysis methods.

The easy-to-use CRM offers safety benefits for users because Starna is the only CRM supplier that is permanently heat-fuse sealing methanol thereby ensuring that laboratory users no longer need to handle methanol, which is a volatile, flammable, toxic solvent.

Starna’s CRM is ideal for pharmaceutical QA laboratories using derivative spectrophotometry procedures to validate instrument resolution following the guidelines specified in section 2.2.25 of the European Pharmacopoeia.

Starna is an ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO Guide 34 accredited Reference Material producer so the company’s Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) provide a convenient and recognised validation method. Full documentation on measurement, handling and storage is also provided with each set of CRMs.

ISO Guide 34 accreditation involves a detailed statistical analysis of the extensive stability and homogeneity data Starna has already accumulated on CRMs as part of the company’s existing ISO 17025 procedures, and a formal review of all associated customer feedback activities. As a result of this work Starna is able to offer the end-user a lifetime guarantee on Starna®

CRMs, providing they have been used and stored correctly, and have been re-certified every two years. Circle no. 329

Particularly well received was Beta RAM 5, the latest version of IN/US’s market-leading RHPLC flow-through detector, which now has a unique Active Counting Mode (ACM™) that monitors and optimises run conditions in real time giving greater signal-to-noise ratios. This is unrivalled for low-level samples and achieves limits of detection previously unseen with conventional RHPLC. Re-designed flow cells with reduced dead volume provide enhanced resolution and sharper peak definition.

Revolutionary Chromatography System Wins Award

Grace Davison Discovery Sciences’ is proud to announce the revolutionary Reveleris™ flash chromatography system (patents pending) - recipient of the coveted R&D 100 and IBO 2009 Industrial Design awards. For 47 years, R&D 100 awards have been given by R&D Magazine to the top 100 technological achievements of the year. Earlier award recipients have included lab-on-a-chip, the cardiac defibrillator, the fax machine, halogen lamps and liquid crystal displays.

The Reveleris™ system is the direct result of Grace’s expertise in material science, detector technology and continued investment in research and development. This is the fourth innovation distinction for the Reveleris™ system. It was a finalist in Laboratory Equipment Magazine’s 2009 Readers’ Choice Awards and a New & Notable mention at Pittcon.

The Reveleris™ flash purification system utilises proprietary RevealX™ detection technology that integrates multiple detector signals that recognise (detect) and collect components previously undetected, yielding more targeted samples with fewer impurities in less time, assisting medicinal chemists in more quickly developing promising drug candidates earlier in the development process. System capabilities are now expanded with the launch of the new release of version 1.1 RevealX Operating Software together with new Reveleris™ SRC C18 reversed phase cartridges.
