Consider the content • Does your writing need anything added? Additional descriptions, facts or steps?
• Does your writing make sense? • Has anyone given you feedback you could include?
Check the meaning, sense and flow • Do your layout and presentation help your writing to make sense?
• Does each paragraph have a topic sentence? • Do you link your ideas within and between paragraphs, using linking words and conjunctions?
Pay attention to detail • Use a dictionary to check your spelling • Check how effectively you have used pronouns, clauses, phrases and prepositions
• Check your punctuation • Use a thesaurus to choose more interesting nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs
• Check your verb tenses and agreement Check the final draft, publish and present
• Read your work through once more to “proof read” and make sure
• Write out or type your work neatly and attractively
• Present your work to the teacher or the class or put it up on display
Always be ready to explain and talk about what you have written to others
