Design an information leaflet

Drafting: Write your first draft. Your leaflet must explain the reason for the competition and give details about the activity you would like to introduce to your school. It should persuade people that your idea is a great one. 1 Use the following headings (or similar) in your leaflet: a Title (This can be your slogan.) b “Kids on the move” (Explain what the campaign is all about.)

c “Kids on the move at our school” (Give details about the activity you would like to implement.)

d Why me? (Persuade your audience to be part of the campaign.)

2 Read the information about persuasive tools on page 41. Use these tools in your writing.

3 Leaflets should be visual. Include pictures that will help to persuade.

4 Editing: Read through your leaflet and think of ways you can improve it. For example, try to improve on the following: • Structure: Check the information under each heading. Does it belong there? Is there a clear topic sentence in every paragraph you have written?

• Persuasive language: Have you used the persuasive language well? Will the language you used appeal to your audience? Do you think the audience will be excited about your idea?

• Spelling and grammar: Check that your spelling and grammar are correct. Make any necessary changes.
