Simple Serves for
Post Lockdown a Brockmans Spring Negroni
As we start to prepare for the summer of freedom we all long for, bar-tenders need to prepare for a busy time ahead with some delicious, stylish, and yet simple serves to welcome customers back to their favourite hospitality haunts.
Social distancing will remain important for staff and customers, and so what we need are cocktails with a few ingredients that create a ‘wow’ factor without bartenders having to cross the back bar extensively to reach for a host of ingredients.
The Negroni is always welcome. For this season, Brockmans Gin is recommending a lighter take on the classic. This still has gin as
its base, but the usual Campari and Vermouth are replaced with Bitter Bianco and Sparkling Grapefruit. The sparkle adds an interesting and celebratory quality to the drink.
The notes of the classic Negroni are not lost as, of course, Bitter Bianco is an infusion of bitter herbs and aromatic botanicals, tasting similar to Campari but lighter in colour.
Brockmans is memorable for its notes of blueberry, blackberry and bitter-sweet orange peel. The recommended G&T serve for this extraordinary gin is pink grapefruit, whose notes complement the gin to perfection. This cocktail is sophisticated and with a complex bitterness that could become a useful addition to the Spring and Summer gin cocktail menu.
