Since the beginning of 2019, Te Crosby Group has acquired three rather different business in the heavy lifting and rigging sector. Also in 2019, Robert Desel was appointed CEO of the company. We were grateful to speak with Mr. Desel about how these acquisitions will enable Te Crosby Group to create more value for its customers and distributors, while expanding opportunities for the people who built these companies. 38 | MODULIFT BUILDS A NEW HOME FOR INNOVATION AND GROWTH


In July, 2019, Modulift moved into a new 40,000 square foot state- of-the-art manufacturing facility. Built around an engineering core, and coupled with enhanced manufacturing capability with roughly triple the size of their prior location, the site is now organized to cut down lead times on key products. Tat includes standard items, but is especially critical with respect to custom-engineered heavy lifting below-the-hook solutions where they have established a leadership position. ON THE COVER: The Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, UK is home to two enormous gantry cranes of Krupp Ardelt design dubbed Samson and Goliath. UK below the hook lifting specialists Modulift were hired by the shipbuilder to develop the capability to lift 700t from a single lifting point – required for lifting a steel structure jacket section of an oil rig. Modulift first supplied a tandem lifting beam enabling Harland &Wolff to join up two gantry crane hooks, and later an additional custom-made tandem lifting beam brought a third gantry crane hook into play. Testing with 22 water filled bags achieved a world record lift for non-fixed lifting beams.
