WHAT’S NEW CALDWELL MARKETS DURA-MOD MODULAR SPREADER BEAMS
The Caldwell Group Inc. has launched the Dura-Mod Modular Spreader Beam, a versatile, lightweight alternative to fixed and multiple point below-the-hook solutions up to 170-ton capacity. Dura-Mod, which will be sold solely through the manufacturer’s global distributor net-
work, is suited to a multitude of markets including oil and gas, heavy engineering, and crane and equipment rental. It is a new rigging concept for Caldwell, and complements the existing family of fixed beams, adjustable beams, beam end fittings and ‘build your own’ spreaders. Dura-Mod was first unveiled at the Associated Wire Rope Fabricators (AWRF) Product
Information Exhibition (PIE) in Cleveland, Ohio last spring, but based on the response from dealers and end users alike, additional capacities have been added to the range and plans are already afoot to raise the capacity to 250 tons—and beyond. Malcolm Peacock, business development specialist at Caldwell, said: “Each system will
consist of a pair of end fittings and drop links, and two upper and lower shackles to make the shortest possible configuration. From there it is a simple case of combining intermediate spreader sections to achieve the required span. The single longest component is only 20 ft.” “If a square or rectangular spreader frame is required you simply need to remove the end fittings and add corner sections—the struts are the same. We provide a full assembly procedure on our data sheets along with details of fasteners and torque values. We can
also manufacture any custom or special parts to order to enable us and our distributors to provide a flexible service.” All Dura-Mod spreaders conform to ASME B30.20 and BTH-1 Design Category B, Class
0. Each modular system is manufactured in-house and is provided with a “Made in the USA” badge. Notably, Caldwell said it is not a problem if Dura-Mod is used in conjunction with other renowned manufacturers’ products, providing all components are certified and conform to relevant standards. y

WHAT’S NEW LIFTING HEAVY LOADS JUST GOT EASIER: ENERPAC INTRODUCES SL400N SUPER LIFT HYDRAULIC GANTRY
Enerpac continues its long history of innovation with the introduction of the new Enerpac SL400N Super Lift Hydraulic Gantry. This latest addition to the Enerpac Telescopic Hydraulic Gantry portfolio achieves high capacity and lifting height with an efficient footprint. “The SL400N is designed based on the significant growth seen in relevant markets and the need for greater lifting capacities in tighter spaces,” said Pete Crisci, Product Line Director—Heavy Lifting Technology at Enerpac. “We continue to evolve and provide new solutions for our customers to meet their changing and diverse applications.”
The capacity limits of existing narrow track gantries meant less options to lift and posi-
tion heavy loads in applications where traditional cranes will not fit or are too expensive to mobilize. But moving to a wider track to increase heavy lifting capacity was not an ideal solution. Working in tight spaces, like inside facilities, equipment must be compact and efficient. Enerpac engineers were able to increase lifting capacity on this newest gantry without having to go up to a wider gauge track.
The result is the SL400N
which can lift up to 400 metric tons (first stage) with a 7.7-meter lifting capacity on a standard 2 ft track. By being able to stick with this slender track gauge, the unit can eas- ily be moved around existing obstacles. Operators can spend less time navigating impediments or moving them and use less resources to mobilize and demobilize the equipment. Other Enerpac innovations make the gantry safer and easier to set up and operate, including standard self-contained hydraulics, standard self-propelled rollers, and standard wireless controls. y
