STOROPACK JOINS THE FIGHT AGAINST PLASTIC
Storopack is now part of a global initiative against plastic waste in the environment. Together with around 40 companies, the
protective packaging specialist has set itself the goal of eliminating the entry of plastic waste into the environment and plastic already in the environment. The firm has joined the international Alliance to
End Plastic Waste (AEPW) which was founded in January 2019 and has already committed to funds of around $1bn US dollars. Within the next five years, at least $1.5bn will fund various projects. “Plastic waste does not belong in the environment
but in orderly recycling circuits. This is why we’re joining the Alliance with the greatest conviction and in order to make a contribution,” said Hermann Reichenecker, chairman of Storopack’s Management Board. One of the focal points of the AEPW’s strategy is
the development of the necessary infrastructure. Cities and regions particularly affected by plastic waste will be supported in the development of a waste disposal infrastructure. Investments will also be made in new technologies for recycling processes and the recovery of plastics. Innovative solutions for recycling of packaging are to be created and a closed-loop economy to be made possible. Part of the budget will be used to raise awareness among the affected population. The non-profit global initiative encompasses

international corporations along the plastics value chain. The Alliance also works with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and the United Nations Environment Program. In the future, cooperation will extend to governments, non- governmental organisations and investor groups.

COLLEGE TO HOST RUGBY TOURNAMENT
The England Counties U18s Rugby programme has been running for the past 11 seasons, and this year, England Rugby has decided to host the international tournament against Ireland at Moulton College. Selection of the players is ongoing, and approximately 800 16 to 18-year-olds have been battling it out at county level to make it through the assessment process. The final England squad will be chosen at the end of this month ready to start the programme on 8 April 2020. David Penberthy, team manager
for the England U18s said: “We’re thrilled to be hosting the international programme at Moulton this year. The squad is looking forward to making use of the great sports facilities available at the College. We’re fortunate that the team will get to play in such an excellent location.” The U18s programme is hugely important in creating opportunities for young players to develop and enjoy the experience of playing for their country. Dave added: “The process has
proven to be very successful over the years and gives players another chance to fulfil their rugby dreams of playing at the highest level possible. Our aim is to ensure we create an environment and an ethos that will get the best out of the boys using rugby’s core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship as the catalyst to do that. It is very important that enjoyment is maintained throughout the process.”
