BUSINESS REPORT
SAMMY IS STIRRING UP THE PLASTIC INDUSTRY
A firm which designs and manufactures plastic injection moulded products has produced a video to promote its environmental credentials. Great Central Plastics Ltd has been producing high quality plastic
products for the promotional and automotive industry for more than 20 years. As a leading example of an eco-friendly British manufacturer it has
commissioned a video featuring a colourful cartoon character called Sammy Swizzle the swizzle stick to highlight that all its plastic products are reusable. Sales and marketing executive Kiron Phillips said: “We commissioned
the video because there is a common misconception about plastics being bad for the environment, because this is often reported in the news. “However, this isn’t correct because there are so many different types
of plastics. All the plastics we make are reusable and they are safe to go in the dishwasher. There is no reason at all for any of our products to end up in landfill. “We focus on green processing techniques to
ensure, whenever possible, that each stage of an order is produced with an eco-friendly ethos.
“Being green goes to the core of our
business – it’s a part of everything we do.” The business is looking at creating
other colourful characters for future videos.

‘THERE IS A COMMON
MISCONCEPTION ABOUT PLASTICS BEING BAD’
A GREAT CHRISTMAS FOR EVENTS VENUE
Northampton’s largest town centre event space and late night venue has celebrated its busiest Christmas period to date. The Platform is a multi-purpose
event space which houses several of the University of Northampton Students’ Union’s most popular and utilised services. However, the popular venue can
also be booked by businesses and the general public for a variety of bespoke functions, including conferences, private parties and weddings. Conferencing sales executive
Megan Bowers said: “We’re very well known for our connection with the University of Northampton and its students but businesses and the wider community are starting to realise that we can cater for their events too. “December was our busiest
month yet. We hosted a fantastic wedding, children’s parties, a baby shower and lots of Christmas parties for the likes of Barclays, Nationwide and Dr Martens. “Our conference facilities are
great. We can host up to 100 delegates and we offer onsite catering.”
