The proposed front of Scorpion Security’s new building
SCORPION WILL SOON MOVE TO NEW PREMISES
Scorpion Security has taken ownership of a new 5,500 sq ft premises in Moulton Park Industrial Estate. In April, following a six-month
renovation project, Scorpion will relocate from their current premises in Lodge Farm to their new building. Managing director Mark Bennett
said: “This is a very exciting time for us and this move to larger premises is part of our continued growth plan to ensure we’re offering the very best service to our clients. Our new premises will house a much bigger Remote
Monitoring CCTV Control Room along with a dedicated client demonstration suite and staff training facilities and much more, providing a first-class experience for staff, clients and potential customers alike. “This year is also our 30th
anniversary so we’re looking forward to holding a double celebration when we cut the ribbon on the new premises and are issuing an open invitation to Chamber members to come along and join us.” Scorpion has also just purchased a second stinger – a rapid deploy
remote monitoring CCTV tower – following the success of their first stinger which has protected several clients’ developments. Mark added: “The stinger
provides an instant, cost effective means of security to clients who don’t want the inconvenience and costs associated with providing the telecoms, amenities and welfare facilities required for a guard. “Its success has led us to acquire
a second stinger and we look forward to expanding the fleet further next year.”

In this issue we look at the BUSINESS CRIME & PROTECTION, APPRENTICESHIPS & SKILLS and LEGAL SERVICES industries in the Northamptonshire area
CYBERCRIME IS A TOP CONCERN
Recent reports suggest cybercrime attacks spiralled upwards by 140% in 2018. The financial impact of
those attacks is varied, but for the estimated 35,000 enterprises in Northamptonshire, the stakes are incredibly high - just one attack could reduce a business to its bare bones, warns commercial insurance brokers, Marsh Commercial. A recent report from Marsh
Commercial’s global parent company, Marsh and Microsoft Corp., found 80% of businesses now list cyber security as a top five concern, compared to 62% two years ago. Despite this, more than half said they had only spent a few hours over the past year addressing the issue.
‘CYBERCRIME IS NOT GOING AWAY ANYTIME SOON’
Mike Owen who is CEO of
South of England at Marsh Commercial said: “Northampton businesses should have IT experts to handle the infrastructure, build a risk management culture and provide rolling cybercrime employee training programmes to identify and thwart risks before they result in an attack. “If the worst does happen,
an incident management procedure and detailed scenario planning will ensure clear roles and responsibilities and minimise the impact of an attack as soon as is feasible. “Cybercrime is not going
away anytime soon, and it’s getting more sophisticated, so tackling the issue head on through a flexible yet sustained approach is the only way to ensure businesses are protected.”
