FACTFILE: PERSONALISED GIFTS SHOP


BACKGROUND: Personalised Gifts Shop was set up by Jane Gokgoz with just £5.50 from her kitchen table in 2011. Jane wanted to create a company which would help people to find personalised gifts after she struggled to find the right gifts for her own children. Initially, the firm offered a limited range of gifts using outside manufacturers to fulfil the orders. Jane decided to bring in all manufacturing in-house in 2015 and acquired a warehouse and set up manufacturing from sourcing products, design and manufacturing. Since then the company doubled its warehouse space and has grown by 1,000%. The firm has also started product branding for corporate gifts and has fulfilled many orders for flagship corporates.

lot of changes in the industry. With more companies offering personalised products and the industry growing in size every year it makes for a challenging marketplace. But it is a challenge that the firm is happy to meet head on. Jane explained: “Things are more challenging now because each year the industry is growing ever bigger but we are

continuing to grow because our business is agile. We’re constantly refreshing our designs and revamping our lines. We have four excellent in-house designers and the whole team contributes to ideas for our products. “We are always looking out for what is on trend and because


we do everything in-house we can create new products and begin selling them within a couple of days. “During the last half of 2019 we focussed on environmentally


friendly products because this is so popular with businesses and the public now. Our personalised eco-friendly bamboo toothbrushs and reusable steel straws have been particularly popular. “Last Christmas was also our busiest on record and we found


that demand for our environmentally friendly kitchen products increased. Lots of customers liked our personalised knife block and chopping board sets made from bamboo. More and more customers want to give eco-friendly gifts that are useful and will be used time and time again. “Last year was a fantastic year and we have lots of exciting


plans for the future. We don’t tend to schedule what we’re doing months ahead because we review what we’re doing on a daily basis – we’re incredibly proactive.”
