Royal Dart/HMS CICALA The building next to the Lower Ferry slip in Kingswear used to be the Royal Dart Hotel and was a key part of espionage activities during World War Two. The hotel was home to the 15th Gunboat Flotilla, HMS Cicala, which was formed in 1942 to man operations and secret raids, bringing many fighters back home from France. More than 100 sailors crewed missions out of the Dart over a two year period.
