Beesands Man Sands

Beesands A beautiful shingle beach ideal for dog walkers. Surrounded by fields and hills - there’s a peaceful and secluded vibe. At the centre is a charming fishing village complete with a playpark, lots of lobster pots and two fine places to dine. People drive for miles to reach The Cricket Inn, and Brittania @ the Beach offers world-class seafood to eat-in or takeaway. (TQ7 2EH)

Man Sands

Man Sands is one of the area’s lesser-known sandy beaches, but, at over 500 metres in length it’s well worth seeking out. The beach has im- pressive rock formations, coves and rock pools to explore. Great for wildlife enthusiasts and dog walkers. There is a National Trust carpark (TQ6 0EF), a 30 mins steep and rugged walk away.

Shoalstone Beach The shingle beach of Shoalstone is near to the busy fishing harbour of Brixham. It is great for families with plenty of large rocks to climb and opportunities to buy ice creams. In the middle of it all is a recently restored sea water swimming pool, ideal for children and anyone who wants some shelter from the open water. Parking is available within a short walk. (TQ5 9AH)

Dog friendly beaches

A summer beach ban comes into force on May 1 but we don’t have to leave our four-legged friends at home. Some of the most beautiful beaches in the South Hams are dog friendly every day of the year. Just remember to check tide times as some of these natural coves can almost disappear at high water.
