Dartmouth Boat Hire Centre For a faster way to get about the river, hire a motor boat from the guys at the huts near


Platform 1. They have vessels for two to eight people and having the power of a few horses be- hind makes it easier to reach other places like the delightful village of Dittisham. There are plenty of options for a spot of lunch and the more adventurous might carry on up river towards the medieval town of Totnes. see advert page 30

Blackpool Sands There is so much to do at Black- pool Sands, just along the coast


from Dartmouth. The shingle beach attracts thousands of holidaymakers every year who come to swim and play in the water, eat ice creams and explore rock-pools. There’s a cafe, shop and water sports equipment hire.

Fun at Coronation Park Coronation Park is a huge open space in the heart of Dart-


mouth. There’s a popular café serving everything from lobster to homemade cakes. Customers can dine whilst watching their little ones in the spacious play-park next door. Older children may enjoy a game of table tennis, football or full-sized tennis (there are four courts which can be booked via the café).


Woodlands


Fun, thrills and plenty of splashes await visitors at Woodlands Leisure Park, just a


10 minute drive from Dartmouth. The park has rides, water shoots, an indoor adven- ture zone and a falconry centre. There’s also a mini zoo and farm with snakes, meerkats and pigs!

Berry Pomeroy Castle Feeling brave? Berry


Pomeroy is home to the most haunted castle in Devon. Now just ruins, the site, near Totnes, was due to house a grand Elizabethan mansion but it was abandoned in the late 17th century. Various ghostly characters are said to wander the grounds.
