ENJOY THE RIVER DART The River Dart really is a water lover’s play- ground with so much to do all year round. Pleasure boats queue up on the quayside each morning to take visitors to the market town of Totnes and also to Dittisham and to the former estate of famous author Agatha Christie at Greenway. She decided to make the banks of the River Dart her holiday home location in the 1930s, now the Na- tional Trust maintains the property which welcomes thousands of visitors each year. There are sailing courses, rib rides, stand-up paddle board lessons and
motorboats for hire. Kayaking trips are popular for those seeking hidden caves and secluded beaches on which to make campfires and toast marshmallows. Or for those who prefer to dine like kings there are restaurant boats which provide hearty breakfasts or champagne lunches on the move. Rowing and gig racing clubs provide an almost constant spectacle of training throughout the year and the river-borne activity reaches its peak during the Royal Regatta each August with its rowing races, classic craft review and vintage steam boat rally.
