Hospice in the Weald partners with Tonbridge School to celebrate 40 years of care

Hospice in the Weald and Tonbridge School have announced a new partnership which aims to greatly benefi t the wider community. The news comes as the Hospice plans a series of events throughout 2020 to celebrate its 40th anniversary of providing vital care in West Kent and Northern East Sussex. The partnership will see

Tonbridge boys and staff getting involved in a variety of voluntary and fundraising activities, while the school will also be hosting a series of Hospice events. These include an Art of the Weald exhibition, taking place in the school’s OBS Gallery, which will showcase high-quality, local artwork and sculpture on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March, while an “open gardens” event at the school over the same weekend will also help to raise vital funds for the Hospice.

THE GOOD GIG GUIDE

This month’s pick of what’s going on in the local music scene, compiled by Gary Collins

Tonbridge pupils have already started working with the Hospice as part of their weekly volunteering activities, spending time with patients and families on the In- Patient Ward and helping to lead various projects in the areas of marketing, retail and fundraising, gaining valuable work experience and skills at the same time. Back in December the Hospice

held its Carols at Christmas in the school’s Chapel. • Visit hospiceintheweald.org.uk

VERIDIAN

The Sussex Arms, Tunbridge Wells, 24th Jan For a band that has been around for less than a year, Veridian have really hit the ground at full speed. Already signed to Primordial Records in the Netherlands, this six-piece rock band from Reading are selling out shows much bigger than this one, so I am unsure how this date is going to go. That being said, I have seen similarly popular acts such as St Agnes, Raveneye and Black Orchid Empire here, which has always worked out fi ne. • The Forum’s box offi ce at twforum.co.uk

EZIO

Beat the winter blues with A LITTLE JAZZ!

The Forum, Tunbridge Wells, 24th Jan A band that’s hard to defi ne in terms of genre, as they frequently hop from one to another, however it does mean that they have something for everyone in their repertoire. The band hail from Cambridge and are entering their 30th year together releasing nine studio albums. Comprising front man and main composer Ezio Lunedei and Mark “Booga” Fowell as the core members, add touring musicians and there will be up to fi ve of them on stage. • For tickets, visit twforum.co.uk
