How’s your Geography?

Hopefully it’s good enough to fi nd your way to the new wine bar of the same name, which opened on the High Street in Tunbridge Wells back in October. Informal, warm and friendly, Geography is owned and run by local Tunbridge Wells couple Aubrey and Fleur whose love of wine is only matched by their love of travel, hence the bar’s name. Geography is all about celebrating local people, produce and place and so stocks a great range of Kent and Sussex wine as well as gins, cheeses and bread from award-winning producers including Alsop & Walker, Hush Heath, Greensand

Ridge and Hidden Spring on their ever-evolving list. Harvey the chocolate Labrador is usually on meet and greet duties but regardless, you’ll always get a warm welcome from the team. Cosy up in the little snug at the back or watch the world go by from the window seats, we simply encourage you to pop in and check it out if you get the chance. • Open Wednesday-Saturday 12noon- 11pm and Sunday 12noon-6pm at 52A High Street TN1 1XF, call 01892 521292, visit geographytw.com, email info@geographytw.com, or follow on Facebook and Instagram @geographytw

Barn-storming Fish Supper success!

The Barn in Tunbridge Wells recently took part in the RNLI’s annual Fish Supper Appeal with a week of fundraising activities linked to the appeal. General managers Jan and Philippe Sorak, along with their dedicated staff, arranged events, supported by Claire Cardwell, the RNLI’s community fundraising manager for Kent and Sussex. The total raised for the event was £857, and the certifi cate was presented to Jan and Philippe by the Royal Tunbridge Wells Branch’s chairman Malcolm Poole (below).

The money raised was through a package Jan and Philippe put together and included a special three-course Lifeboat menu which, if selected, 10% of the total bill was for Lifeboats. All the profi ts from Jelly-shots sold and £1 from each Lifeboat Cocktail sold went to make up the total, plus money put in the collection boxes on display over the week-long event. Also, in an extremely generous gesture, the staff donated their tips for the week.
