Faircracker FALL 2019


For the 2019 season, the Hillsborough County Fair introduced a new mascot: Farmer Sydney. In his inaugural year with the fair, Farmer Sydney visited schools and taught students how to grow their very own lettuce.


Each student was given a bookmark with seed tape attached.


Farmer Sydney showed them how to plant it and take care of it. Students had the opportunity to watch their seeds sprout and monitor the growth of their lettuce every day in the classroom. Then, students took their bookmark to the fair and got free admission.


Once at the fair, they had the opportunity to join


Farmer Sydney’s Kids Club for a small fee. Membership included a meet and greet with Farmer Sydney, a pump- kin, a fair food treat and a hayride.


The Hillsborough County Fair has always been focused


on the county’s agricultural history and educating the youth of today on farming and agriculture. We hope the introduction of Farmer Sydney will help expose the next generation to the agricultural roots of our great county.
