Faircracker FALL 2019

DANNY ALFONSO of Parrish has joined the Manatee River Fair Association Manage- ment team. Danny has served the Manatee County Fair as a volunteer and Director for over 20 years. He began volunteering in 1998 as the Market Steer (Barn) Superin- tendent from 1998 through 2010.

In 2009, Danny began serving as an As-

sociate Director for the fair where he served in that capacity until 2011 when he

became a full Committee Chair until he accepted the position on the Mana- tee County Fair Management team.

L to R: Danny Alfonso, Kim Alfonso and Daniel West

Prior to joining the Manatee County Fair, Danny worked in the Telecommunications industry for 32 years

as a Technician, as well as, Business Manager for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. The experience he received, in both roles, will serve him well as he continues to build on the success that Mr. Dan West has already established. Danny is a great fit for the Manatee County Fair and he looks forward to getting involved with the Florida Federation of Fairs in the coming years.

The 78th Annual North Florida Fair is scheduled to open November 7 in Tallahassee Florida and runs

through November 17. Just as the weather turns from Summer heat to Fall’s drier and crisper temperatures, the North Florida Fair will open. There are many specials to fit just about any budget and the entertainment lineup is spectacular. That lineup includes the Anastasini Family Circus, the Robbie Pfunder Mountain Bike Trials Show, Chad Gainey chain saw carving, Team Sandtastic Sand Sculpting, the Show- Me Safari Racing Pigs and Petting Zoo. All of the entertainment shows daily.

Strates Shows is the midway provider and last year they debuted a new midway route that proved very

popular with the customers. The new and improved midway will again be showcased by the excellent Strates Shows. There are also some new vendors on the independent midway that we are excited to host.

Also new to the North Florida Fair this year is the use of a social media intern from FSU. Their job will be to

do frequent social media reports before and during the fair to try and build as much excitement as possible. The North Florida Fair has never utilized a person whose sole function is social media but the possibilities are exciting. I will let you know how that works in a future article.
