Dartmouth Food Festival - 2019 Our Artist in Residence - New for 2019

At the Festival, we always try to explore new ideas and try new things, so when we were approached by Emily Thomas asking whether she could be our artist in residence, she didn’t have to ask us twice!

The very talented Emily has just finished her second year of an Illustration Degree at UWE Bristol. Her main developing interests are observational and documentary drawing, and she loves to draw on location and interact with people to tell a story through her work – so what better location than Dartmouth? Emily usually works initially on a sketchpad with fineliner and pencil, as well as taking photos to refer back to.

Emily says: ‘Drawing at this year’s Food Festival is an amazing opportunity for me to develop my observational skills and methods of working by capturing the great variety of events and activities that take place over the weekend. I’m really excited to be a part of it!’
