Art Group was launched by accomplished artist, May Marriott in November 2003. Starting with seven members, today there are around 30 who regularly attend their weekly meetings at Wickersley Methodist Church.
Having always encouraged members to take pride in their work with high standards of mounting and framing, May first instigated an exhibition in 2005 which has gone on to be an annual showcase of members’ work.
Throughout the rest of the
year, they visit local areas of interest to paint outdoors, host two demonstrations with professional artists, and design and create a large Christmas card to present to the church as part of their festivities.
