Now known for its thriving retail quarter, excellent dining choices and affluent residential streets, Wickersley is a prime area for both lifestyle and leisure.
But did you know, early mentions of the manor label it to be of complete waste and valueless when it belonged to Halfdan and Aestan. Quite the opposite of what it is now – with the busy shopping areas bustling with people either side of the dual carriageway. The family de Wickersley were descendants of the co-founder of Roche Abbey, Richard FitzTurgis, who later moved to Sheffield and built Broom Hall.
