Corfe Mullen Carnival News
The Carnival Committee held its annual Cheque Presentation event on 15th August, with almost £8,500 being awarded to numerous groups involved in and around our village.
With the main Carnival Day seeing an increase in the number of stall holders, an increase in the number of runners in our annual Fun Run event, the addition of more Quiz Nights and the good will of our sponsors, we were able to make some sizeable donations. Our principal benefi ciaries are always encouraged to help themselves, by selling our grand draw tickets – as they retain the money generated from each sale they make. Therefore there is a variation on how much each received, depending on how many tickets they sold.
We were delighted that our Carnival Prince, Harry Burt, was available to present the cheques, which were; £2,700 to the Corfe Mullen First Responders, £2,650 to the Friends of Henbury View First School and £1,200 to the Corfe Mullen Sports Association. A number of smaller cheques were also presented to Corfe Mullen Guide Association, 2nd Corfe Mullen Scout Group, Corfe Mullen Community Youth Group, South Coast Helicopters, Wimborne District Society of Model Engineers, Dorset 4x4, St Nicholas Church, Staffi e & Stray Rescue, Ian Mackins and Poole Air Cadets.
Our AGM will be taking place on Tuesday 3rd September, 7.30pm at the Girl Guide HQ at the recreation ground. If you’d like to volunteer to join our committee, you’re welcome to come along.
