Broadstone Physiotherapy & Aquatherapy 15 Year Anniversary
As we are about to Celebrate our 15th Anniversary I have been wondering why I love my job so much...
Well to tell the truth I didn’t know much about Physiotherapy as a teenager when on my own 15th anniversary, careers guidance told me that I had the right apti tude!
But aft er 40 plus years of ‘Physio-ing’ maybe they were right.
I have loved my work over the years from being newly qualifi ed and treati ng pati ents with broken legs who would be in tracti on for 12 weeks, to working with young peoples’ sports injuries and Multi ple Sclerosis suff erers.
Musculoskeletal injuries – that’s aches and pains, bad backs, necks, knees and shoulders has been my mainstay; from working in Poole A&E treati ng traumati c injuries to now running Broadstone Physiotherapy & Aquatherapy.
Hearing pati ents tell their story, working out the reason for their problem, understanding their diffi culty and the fact that someti mes someone’s pain is not coming from where you think it is means that investi gati ve skills are needed along with good listening.
It is 15 years since Broadstone Physiotherapy fi rst opened and when a plot of land became available next door we built an Aquatherapy Pool eight years ago. This provides fantasti c rehabilitati on, and for those people who are more seriously disabled, a chance to enjoy moving as they are not able to in their normal
day to day living. It has turned out to be such
a benefi t for so many pati ents and I enjoy working in the pool as much as traditi onal ‘dryside’ treatments.
There is now a terrifi c team of Physios, some who have had ti me away to have a family and then returned, and a very supporti ve team of Recepti onists – who all know and greet our regulars, many of whom come in for a ‘tune up’ MOT – it is more like a big extended family than work.
Having a team also means that we have a wide range of experti se, so we can off er Acupuncture, Laser and Aquatherapy as well as Hands-on Physiotherapy, Massage, Myofascial Release and Physio Pilates to help you keep fl exible and strong – so between us all we can treat your whole body.
Just seeing someone enjoy moving freely again is enough to remind me why I love my job!
