One Day Event at Whitfield Farm Equestrian, Warwickshire Sunday 30th June 2019 Report by Louise Wakeham


Warwickshire Hunt Pony Club held their One Day Event at Whitfield Farm Equestrian, Warwickshire by kind permission of the Wakeham Family on 30th June 2019. The event held classes from 45cm lead rein up to100cm. 130 competitors from the age of 4 to over 60 took part. The changeable weather conditions leading up to the event, with an inch of rain falling on the Tuesday prior to the event, led to some very challenging days of preparation. Having to use special tyres on the tractors and hand-making a special lifting tool in order to use a lighter weight tractor to position fences so as not to mark the ground, but after a few days of sunshine the top layer had dried, even so lorries still had to be towed out on the day. Riders from many local pony clubs and riding clubs were out in force and contested places over the 6 classes, 45cm lead rein, 45cm, 60cm, 75cm, 90cm, and 100cm. Competition was strong with some fantastic dressage scores across all sections, followed by lovely jumping rounds across both the show jumping arena and the cross country. Organisers would like to say a huge thank you to all the Warwickshire Hunt Pony Club volunteers that made the day run so smoothly, a special thanks to the Hutsby Family for the loan of their field for the dressage, our sponsors for providing such wonderful prizes and of course to all the competitors who made the day such fun.
