Side-Saddle Association Area 14 Summer Show at Talland School of Equitation, Gloucestershire Sunday 14th July 2019


This year’s summer show brought riders from all over to compete against each other in a variety of classes, in this pre Championship show. Starting with our youngest area member, Miss Xanthe Banks, winning the turnout class, then placed in both the Restricted Equitation and Equitation test. The Restricted Equitation was won by Carrie Ashbolt and her new ride for this year, Black Diamond II. This class is aimed at riders who have a new horse, to be able get out competing, without the pressure of the open level class. Our Open Equitation, and Equitation test were won by former area chairman, and equine vet Claire Brown, riding Lauren Owens haflinger Gelding Oxnead Nimmo.


The Classical Ladies class, and Concours D'Elegance class both went to our area chairman, Penny Clarke riding the stunning 'Caledonia' the combination have also qualified for HOYS ladies show horse. The costume Concours D'elegance is a very popular class this year won by Carrie Ashbolt and her own Shooting Star II.


Some riders took the opportunity to get in some course riding practice in the Equitation jumping, this class makes up the second element of the Equitation Championship at the National Side-Saddle Show in August. This was won by area 14 member, and Novice Championship contender Rose Sinclair-James and her event horse Half Irish.
