Charitable Causes, Promotion & Partnership

The Grand Theatre’s charitable

objectives are: • The advancement of the arts for the benefit of the public, in particular through the operation of a theatre in Wolverhampton

• The advancement of education in relation to the arts for the benefit of the public.

These objectives drive many of

the decisions made at the Grand and means that we offer workshops and events which aim to improve the lives of local people. One such project is the Memory

Café. The Memory Café started in April 2019 and is held on the last Thursday and Friday of every

month. It’s for people with dementia and their carers and provides a morning of live music over hot drinks and cakes. It’s amazing to see the transformative effect of hearing the familiar songs has on these people. When they arrive, they are withdrawn and quiet, but when the music starts, they sing and tap along. The shared experience helps their partners to reconnect and remember old times. The reason we’re able to put on

this wonderful project is thanks to FBC Manby Bowdler solicitors. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an important element of FBC Manby Bowdler’s business and its CSR partners include Dementia

Friends and the Alzheimer’s Society. Through corporate sponsorship, the Grand can run the Memory Café as a free event and help our community, while FBC honours its own commitment. Business therefore has an

essential role in the future of the arts, but there are lots of benefits for business too. By supporting arts projects and

organisations, you are helping your community and this will foster positive feeling towards your business. Additionally, there will be opportunities for press coverage and PR, as well logo placements to help raise awareness of your involvement and your brand.

Theatres welcome thousands of

people every year and different shows attract different audiences. By choosing your involvement carefully, you could gain direct exposure to your target market. Many theatres, like the Grand,

have a Business Club that offers packages including complementary tickets to special events. The membership fee helps to support the charitable work, while members have a fantastic option for corporate hospitality or reward employees. They say there’s no business like

show business but there are opportunities for all corporates to share the spotlight and reap the rewards.
