How awards can provide unrivalled profile boost

The Future Faces Awards can provide young professionals in Greater Birmingham with an unparalleled platform to further their careers. That’s according to a number of past winners,

who are urging fellow young professionals to enter the 2019 awards which take place at the ICC on 20 September. Rebecca Halbert, marketing manager at

property management consultancy Avison Young, says some major opportunities have come her way since she was crowned the Future Face of Greater Birmingham last year. She said: “It has been a life-changing

experience. It has provided an unparalleled platform for my development, opened doors to incredible opportunities, and allowed me to join the important conversations taking place about the future of our city and how young professionals can, and should, play a key role. “Whether you are instilling change at a large

corporate, teaching, working in fundraising, or driving your own business forward, applying for the Future Faces awards could give you the springboard into the next chapter of your career.” Jonathan Bennett, manager for risk

assurances services, at accountancy firm Mazars, says winning the 2018 Future Face of Finance award has raised his profile both inside and outside his organisation. He said: “Together with a fellow nominee and

two other managers, we have set up Mazars Connect - an internal group focused on the development of young talent in Mazars Birmingham, and the promotion of the Birmingham Mazars team across the city. “Outside of Mazars, my profile has increased

dramatically and I’ve been able to build a much bigger network across the city. “I would encourage anyone who is passionate

about the work that they do, and Birmingham as a whole to apply.”

June 2019 CHAMBERLINK 31 Sophie Drake said being named Future Face

of Communications in 2016 has benefitted her work within PR firm Story Comms. She said: “It not only helped me raise my

profile, but has also been valuable for Story Comms when delivering pitches or attracting talent. I'd encourage anyone - employer and employees - to think about who shines and goes the extra mile within their organisation, and make sure you get entering to give them the recognition they deserve.” Jaccy Gascoyne, a Future Faces vice president

and Ambassador award recipient, said: “Simply by filling in the form, young professionals often start realising just how much they’ve achieved to date. That in itself inspires them to push themselves even further. The level of talent and achievements within the applications increases every year, and for those who are shortlisted and become category winners, it is fantastic recognition.”

A Future Faces award entry clinic is taking place on 6 June (12pm to 2pm), ahead of the deadline for entries which is 21 June.
