Smith Cooper celebrates a big boost in annual turnover
Midlands-based accountant and business advisor Smith Cooper has announced a massive 25 per cent boost in its annual turnover. The company said that the financial year to 31
March 2019 was its most successful ever, with turnover having increased to £19m, and profits also up from the previous year. The company said that most of the
growth had been organic and spread across all service lines and locations, but included a substantial contribution from the firm’s specialist service lines, including business advisory, corporate finance and business recovery.
‘The strong performance witnessed by the group is across all component parts of our business’
The firm has also increased its share of
the audit and assurance market in its key locations. James Bagley, managing
partner, said: “After a strong FY18, a challenging target was set for FY19 which I am delighted to say that
we have surpassed by some considerable distance. Most pleasing is that the strong performance witnessed by the group is across all component parts of our business and shows the positive profile that Smith Cooper continues to generate across our core locations and furthermore that the substantial investment we have made into people and processes is yielding positive rewards. “Our stated ambition is to continue to develop the group’s service offering and in turn its market share within our core locations and beyond, and we
continually look to achieve this by reinvesting profits in the business, by
attracting the very best people at all levels of seniority and to consider strategic acquisitions which would

complement the markets and clients we serve.” Smith Cooper is one of the largest independently owned accountancy and business advisory firms for owner managed businesses across the Midlands, with offices in Derby, Birming ham and Notting ham.
Recruitment firm expands its team
A recruitment agency specialising in fulfilling temporary job vacancies has made three appointments to its expanding recruitment team. Jake Burrows and Shaf Ali have
joined the Millennium Point-based firm as recruitment executives. They have nine years recruitment experience between them. Ella Schultz, the team’s new
recruitment co-ordinator, is a recent graduate with experience in customer service. Jonathan Fogarty, recruitment manager, said: “We have grown significantly over the last few years and now with our newly grown Birmingham branch recruitment team in place, we are now in a better position than ever to offer flexible recruitment solutions, with access to a diverse network of students, graduates and skilled workers in the region.” The trio join the recruitment firm
that specialises in placing candidates from universities and the community in temporary and permanent roles. Started by the University of
Warwick in 1997, the Unitemps franchise network has grown to become 16 universities strong, with 19 branches across the UK and Australia.
