Changes To 2019 Emergency Equine Medication Report Form

Ottawa, ON, May 24, 2019 – Equestrian Canada (EC) would like to notify the com- munity of changes to the Emergency Equine Medication Report Form for 2019.

New for 2019 The Emergency Equine Medication

Report Form has been modified to allow horses who have been treated with a low dose (10mg) of dexamethasone for an acute allergic reaction (hives/uticaria) to compete following a 12 hour withdrawal period, as opposed to 24 hours. Please see point #4 of the updated

Emergency Medication Report Form. The Emergency Medication Report

Form must be fully completed, signed by the treating veterinarian and given to the steward at the competition. Horses may still be subject to medica-

tion control testing. The filing of an Emer- gency Equine Medication Report Form is not a defense to a violation of the Equine Medication Control Rules.

Equine Medication Control Penalties For the complete EC Schedule of

Fines and Penalties, click here.
