TRINITY ENCORE

THE GOOD GIG GUIDE

Trinity Theatre in Tunbridge Wells has recently expanded its community outreach programme with Trinity Encore, a choir open to anyone living with dementia or other age-related illnesses, and their companions and loved ones. Funded by Postcode Community

Trust, Trinity Encore is a welcoming, informal and fun space for everyone to come together and sing. “Music and the arts have real

potential to bring families, friends and strangers together. Not only is singing good for physical wellbeing, but singing inspires people to live in the moment and truly enjoy themselves. That has been the most rewarding thing to see and experience with Trinity Encore,” said Jocelyn Cheek, community & visual arts manager, Trinity Theatre. • Visit trinitytheatre.net/join-give/ donate to support Trinity Encore

TAILSPIN The jury’s out

John Martin Productions in association with Trinity Theatre Productions is to present the internationally-successful play Terror by Ferdinand von Schirach, which has been performed all over the world and was last seen in London in 2017 when its UK premiere was presented by the Lyric Hammersmith. It tells of

a hijacked plane heading towards a

packed football stadium. Ignoring orders to the contrary, a fi ghter pilot shoots the plane down – killing 164 people to save 70,000. Put on trial and charged with murder, the fate of the pilot is in the audience’s hands. This promises to be a thrilling and intimate courtroom drama where audiences determine the verdict and the fate of the defendant. What makes this production unique is that it will take place in an actual courtroom in a secret location in Tunbridge Wells where, with only 48 seats available for each performance, audiences will

have an experience of what it is like to be on jury service. Audiences will meet at a location to be disclosed after they have booked, they will convene for jury selection before being taken to the courtroom by their usher/clerk of the court. They will then hear the evidence in real-time, performed by a cast of professional actors. Each of the four juries will elect a foreman and reach a verdict. Delivering their verdicts in court, sentencing or acquittal will then take place. Due to the

unique nature of this production there is no direct access to the courtroom. All tickets must be obtained

via Trinity Theatre and specifi c instructions will be sent to audience members before the event. Audiences will also be urged to ‘keep the secret’ and not reveal the location of the courtroom – keeping the surprise for audiences at each performance. • Terror runs at Trinity Theatre from 28th May-16th June. To book, call the box offi ce on 01892 678678 or visit trinitytheatre.net/ events/terror

Beau Nash, Tunbridge Wells, 1st June An excellent fi ve-piece country rock band, featuring two female members on lead vocals and percussion, this is a well-seasoned bunch of musicians who play the sounds of Etta James, Robert Cray, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Rait and more. Now, I am assuming that all fi ve members will be present on the night as I haven’t heard anything to suggest otherwise. This will be an interesting and tight squeeze into a very intimate pub, although I feel certain that it will just add to the atmosphere and bring out the chemistry that this band can produce.

The Culverden Stadium, Tunbridge Wells, 8th June

The main purpose of this event is to raise money for Tunbridge Wells Football Club but there is no better way to achieve this than to put on a day of fun and music. It has to be mentioned that cash raised will be used to support other local partner charities. The line-up is as follows: Suncharmer, The Varlies, Shot to Bits, The Tragic Mushrooms, The Grey Owls and headliners, Lady Bird. The day will include performances from other young local bands too. • Check out
