WIN A CAR & HELP AIR AMBULANCE SAVE LIVES
Cricketer Tammy Beaumont opens junior’s season at local club
England and Kent women’s star bat, Tammy Beaumont MBE opened the season at Sissinghurst Cricket Club with a junior coaching session. Tammy is sponsored by wealth management firm JM Finn who arranged for her to deliver a masterclass on the opening Sunday of the season and to put the club’s youngsters through some coaching drills. JM Finn are Sissinghurst’s current shirt sponsors and helped contribute to the new electronic scoreboard last season. Dover-born Tammy, 28, is a prolific opening bat and wicket-keeper who plays for Kent, Surrey Stars and England women’s teams. Tammy recently celebrated going past 1,000 runs in women’s T20 internationals in the victory over Sri Lanka as well as being named as one of Wisden’s five cricketers of the year. With 94 junior players attending, Paul Dyas, JM Finn investment director and Sissinghurst club member, commented: “We were delighted to see so many juniors, both boys and girls, attend these sessions and we are very grateful to Tammy for coming to help us support these grass roots initiatives – she is a genuine inspiration to all cricketers.”
Kent residents and visitors will have the chance to learn more about the life-saving work of Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex (AAKSS) and win a brand-new Mini when the charity brings its annual car raffle roadshow to the county. Members of the AAKSS fundraising team will be at various locations across the whole county between now and November. They will be on hand to meet the public and explain how the raffle is helping support vital life-saving time critical emergency care for people who live, work, or travel through the area. The winner will be able to
choose from one of five Mini models, supplied by Barretts Mini, based in Canterbury, with the runner-up winning
£1,000 and £250 for the third prize.
The air ambulance is
almost entirely reliant on support from the public in order to fund its round-the- clock operations. Last year its crews of pilots, doctors and paramedics flew nearly 2,500 missions with more than 90% of its £11 million a year operating costs raised from donations, legacies, and fundraisers. Tickets will be priced at £5 each. Last year, the car raffle raised more than £220,000 – enough to pay for more than 60 missions. You can also support the air ambulance’s work by entering online at raffleentry.
