045 England’s largest & ‘fi nest’ wine estate
underway on the North Downs Planting is now underway at Boarley Farm, the 388-acre site acquired last year by England’s leading wine producer Chapel Down. Boarley Farm, together with the contiguous Kit’s Coty and Boxley sites, will form a 620-acre estate of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier plantings on prime land on the North Downs of Kent. This area of England is in Chapel Down’s opinion the
very fi nest ‘terroir’ in the country to make the highest quality traditional method sparkling wine. The company has also announced that their traditional method wines will now all transition into ebony glass offering the best protection in bottle. The move to ebony glass will be phased as each new vintage is released and is timed with refreshed packaging of the core Chapel Down sparkling wines, from non-vintage to vintage and white to rose.

For the fi rst time in its 52-year history, the South of England Agricultural Society will hold its inaugural Wine Walk at the iconic South of England Show when it comes to the South of England Showground in West Sussex for three days from 6th-8th June. Working in partnership with
WineGB – and championing the growing English wine industry – the Wine Walk will offer visitors to the show a unique opportunity to sample, buy and learn about the amazing wines
produced in the region. Regional vineyards exhibiting at the show include Bluebell, Hidden Springs, Plumpton Estate, Kingscote Estate and Sedlescombe, alongside a number of the region’s smaller vineyards. The show will also feature the best of British agriculture, horticulture, livestock and equestrianism, along with an artisan and street food market, entertainment for children and much more. • Visit
