Sheffield Churches Council for Community Care receive the Duke of York’s Community Initiative Award

Charity of the year is recognised by royalty

Sheffield Churches Council for Community Care (SCCCC), Sheffield Chamber’s Charity of the Year, has been given a royal seal of approval by being awarded the Duke of York’s Community Initiative Award. The award is given to those charities that prove invaluable to their communities, being excellently run and who are a true inspiration to others. Mark Storey, CEO, Professor Pete Skipworth,

Trustee, Cath Knowles, Volunteer and Ericka Hill, Marketing, Communications & Fundraising Officer travelled to London to receive the award on behalf of SCCCC staff, volunteers, trustees and service users of the charity. HRH Prince Andrew started the initiative 21 years ago when

he felt that charities were not rewarded enough for the outstanding work they did in their communities. Mark Storey, CEO of SCCCC, said: “We are

delighted to have received royal recognition for the incredible work our volunteers, staff and trustees do to support our local communities. It was a real honour to have met HRH The Duke of York in person. To be part of the initiative means that we are recognised as an inspiration to others, which for us being a small charity, is high praise indeed.”
