Doncaster Chamber welcomes new directors
Two Senior Directors have joined Doncaster Chamber to drive the development of its award- winning support for business and education across the borough. Stefan Rodgers and Andy Hibbitt will use their
commercial expertise to develop business support activities and help prepare the future workforce. Stefan Rodgers, in his role as Commercial
Director, will use his 11 years of experience at Board level in sales, marketing and commercial roles, to help member businesses grow and create mutually beneficial relationships through collaboration with stakeholders across Doncaster to improve jobs, education and people’s lives. Andy Hibbitt joins the team as Education and
Skills Director. He will lead on expanding and enhancing the Chamber's activities that bring together business and education to connect the skills needed by local employers with those of young people leaving the school system. He brings with him a decade of experience
within the education sector, having previously held senior positions with both a private training provider and large awarding organisation.
Businesses and education celebrate working together
Doncaster Skills Academy (DSA) hosted an awards ceremony for 60 people from business and education to celebrate their working together to raise the career aspirations of young people and show them the job opportunities available locally. Cllr Nuala Fennelly, Councillor for Young
People & Families at Doncaster Council, presented the seven awards including for Student of the Year (awarded to Sehmus Gezer, Hayfield School) and Outstanding Business & Education Partnership (awarded to Polypipe). Catherine Matthews, Business & Education
Adviser at Doncaster Chamber, said: “The Doncaster Skills Academy Awards recognised the time that businesses have invested in our young people and how everyone has benefitted. “It was also an opportunity for us grow the
interest and involvement of new businesses who want to go into schools and/or offer industry visits to help better prepare students for more fulfilling careers.

Dan Fell welcomes Stefan Rodgers (left) and Andy Hibbitt (right) to the Chamber
Both Stefan and Andy have a wealth of
commercial expertise that will benefit not only the Chamber as an organisation but its members, partners, skills and education providers, their workforces and the local economy.
Businesses and young students benefit from working together “Right now we are living in uncertain times
and an ever changing business landscape. Young people need to know what career choices are available to them, learn how to integrate themselves into a work environment and have a good understanding of the different pathways they can take.”
DSA supported 7,208 young people in Doncaster last year to raise their aspirations.
