Growing For The Future

Advice for gardeners from Chestnut Nursery Our hotly

anticipated new shop is fi nally fi nished and open to all! We are

ecstatic with how it looks, and you will be also when you pay us a visit.

Our extensive range of healthy homegrown plants looks great nestled behind the Purbeck

stone-clad building. We now have a range of seeds, pots, gardening tools, houseplants, fertilisers, composts, hosepipes and more. So not only can we provide great plants and advice, but gardening essentials as well. And of course, all proceeds go towards the charity.

With May now upon us and light levels lifting, the gardening possibilities are endless. Seeds can be sown directly outside. Tender bedding and exotics can be planted out. And shrubs and herbaceous perennials will thrive. Our range of hanging baskets and containers are ready, and we have plenty of bedding packs and pots for those wishing to make their own.

Be sure to keep up with watering while establishing new plants, even the most drought tolerant plants need a hand to get their roots down. Feeding plants during the growing season is essential in ensuring lush green foliage, many fl owers and healthy roots. Keeping a plant well fed is half the battle won against pests and disease. A well-fed plant is a strong plant.

In the ever-lengthening days we wish you all joy in your gardens and look forward to sharing our passion for plants with you here at Chestnut Nursery.
