The Keep Upton Tidy Group conducted our Spring Litter Pick on the 24th March and we were delighted by the turnout of 30 – a new record I think!
We enjoyed sunny weather and welcomed a number of new faces and the wonderful Upton Guides were there as usual. We gathered 16 bags of rubbish and various items such as number plates. The trailway proves to be a very bad spot, but the general area shows signs of improvement.
We are aware that retail outlets in the area generate a lot of takeaway litter without having bins outside their premises which would be a help. A big thank you to Spar for doing something about it. Let’s hope we can thank other shops in the future too! Meanwhile we have continuing reports of fl y-tipping in parts of our town and in semi-rural areas. Please do not contribute to this by dealing with unlicensed waste contractors.

The Keep Upton Tidy Group will be meeting again at Turbary Court in Douglas Close, Upton on Wednesday 3rd July at 6pm. New faces are always welcome, even if it is to bring up a specifi c subject or see what we do. Please contact one of the offi cers listed above for details.
Finally we would ask residents to be vigilant and advise (in the fi rst place) Dorset Waste Partnership (either online or on 01305 221040) of any litter, fl y-tipping, dog fouling or overgrown pathways (or bins that have not been emptied). If you still cannot resolve the problem, contact the Town Council (01202 632070) or one of the offi cers above.
